Where is the best place to store all your resources for crafting

Metals, crafting stuff, food items and such. Just came back with a giant load of stuff. Have not built a base or anything yet.

As was pointed out to me, there is a small storage box in the basement of the Lodge in the middle of the room just behind the Research Station. That's probably your best bet because it's close to all types of crafting stations and it has infinite space. You still have to grab the materials that you need to craft from it. At least you don't have to walk far to the crafting stations.

Edit: That won't really help of outpost building though. Just item crafting. Your ship is probably best for outpost building.

I found that you have unlimited storage in your room at the lodge. With the crafting tables in the basement its not completely annoying to run up and down the stairs to get what you need to craft at the beginning. I still keep manufactured items there now since they all have such large mass and the storage options I have are annoyingly small on my outposts.

Make an outpost with a bunch of storage/warehouses. You can transfer from your ship to your outpost if you have certain things set up. I've had to do this because I was lugging around 1400 worth of random resources without even realising it. There is some containers at the Lodge that have no capacity, so that's probably the quickest option, but lugging materials too and from your ship will get tedious over time. It will also make crafting a lot more of a headache because you will have to go to and from containers constantly to grab certain resources.

Can just mod the game and have increased ship storage, or just make a cargo ship fairly cheap, if you have decent levels in ship stuff you can get a flying brick with 10k storage that obliterates anything that comes near it. just.. dont bring it to a race

Outpost seems to be the intended method, but...

There are infinite capacity storage containers inside the lab downstairs in the lodge. I just dump all my resources in one of those, grab everything when I want to craft (being encumbered doesn't matter since all the work stations are right there), then dump it all back in when I'm done.

The lab is even closer to the door than the safe in your room is.

The moment you first get into the lodge you get assigned a room. Noel even walks you too it.

I definitely did that, I didn't even think about there being rooms to stay in at the Lodge because I assumed my ship was just that, a moving room.

Build an outpost. Then build a bunch of storage containers of various types. (The big ones, not the chests.)
All of the outpost's storage containers are linked to your outpost's work stations and your outpost building menu.
Dump all of your resources into these containers.
Done.

I'd vote for the outpost with numerous storage towers made from all the various storage options. Anytime my ship starts looking girthy I'll swing by that base and drop off the loot, craft as much as I can, upgrade weapons/suits then take the proceeds to sell. Set up a cargo network to have ores from other bases delivered.

With your outpost storage you don't have to run back and forth between boxes for mats, anything stored on the base shows in your crafting menu. Much easier than the lodge or overloading your ship.

You still get it, Sarah gives it. Noel just is the lackey to show you where to find it
