import/export ship designs
This needs to be a thing. With all the new game+ garbage in this game you need to be able to save ship designs easily. I could care less about forking out the cash I just hate sitting in the terrible quasi 3d garbage ship designer fighting with the stupid camera that changes the perspective when I try to connect my leggos.

Import and Export of character appearance as well.

I'd like to be able to Save and Load an appearance.

Currently it can be done but requires Console commands.

I noticed while editing my guy at the appearance store, that the game doesn't save the options I picked. So moving any of the sliders will reset any changes I did originally. By allowing us to save and load our appearance we have an easier way to reset stuff, or make changes when we do NG+.

Yeah, this would be an awesome feature. I created a really good ship that I used for a long time in my first playthrough but couldn't quite get it the same in further NG+ runs. I didn't have any saves from the original playthrough so I lost the design.

I was on the same idea, but then two factors changed my mind:
1. building ships is (imo) actually one of the funniest things in the game, so it is always a pleasure spending some time travelling the universe looking for the perfect module to fit in
2. trying to replicate a previous owned og- ship in ng+ offers the chance of enhancement, trying to obtain an even better design, aiming for perfection

I like this idea, but that means I could export my OP ship at the end of one NG and then import it into the next before I qualify for some of the parts which are locked behind missions.

Okay then just don't let people import ships that have parts that you don't have access to? Also, it's a single player game. Who cares if you get access to things that you already had access to? You could argue that with starship design, you somehow managed to memorize the schematics or parts that you don't have access to from another reality. The only person you're cheating is yourself.

I logged into my wife's account on my PC and built her a ship. We could not find a way to transfer it to her account on her PC no matter what we tried, not even save game transfers. I finally had to walk her thru it on her PC.

What I would likely suggest instead is just introduce placeholder parts for imported ship designs.

if you do not have the part, have instead a 'hologram' or 'shadow' component that would place-hold the part in question so you can look for a replacement part (or parts) in that ship design.

This way you can import any ship design you can dream of and any part that isn't there or currently available to you shows in a ghostly red or something.

I'd love a import ship blueprint design. Its really the only reason why I haven't gone into ng+ my current ship took a few hours to build and I want to keep it instead of having to spend hours to rebuild it again

My remedy to the issue of not being able to export a ship is to make a "blueprint" in excel so I can recreate the ship again. Clunky and time consuming but it works for now.

This. I did it, and it reminded me of Alice's Restaurant

You can get anything you want, at Alice's restaurant.... (excepting Alice....)

I take "blueprints" of ships I'd like to recreate by screenshotting the orthographic views and
maybe a few other reference views in the ship builder. I then stash them in a safe folder so I can delete them in Steam's Screenshot Manager. I also make sketches that way of ships of different classes but don't actually want to pay for the rebuild. for possible use when I start a completely new game,

Alice's Restaurant, eh? You guys can't be older than me, or if you are. 'grats for that :D. I myself have been livin' on the Group W bench for quite a while now. Interesting community...
