patch made it way worse. Was playing for hours before without any crashes. pls fix.

Regarding the solution below you will need to prevent steam from updating the files again untill the next update or replace (backup before!) the exe file every time steam updated it.
Use this information at your own risk. It's not a real fix to the problem but a workaround for now. After that workaround I was able to play for hours without crashes.

Editedit: Info from Sabat1 for some of you using DLSS mod:
"I just made it work again. You need to delete all files from the dlss mode from the game folder where the Starfield.exe is:

The already high CPU usage before the patch seems to be even worse after it. CPU temps went to about 100 C and the whole PC hanged and rebooted.
I have limited the fps to 60 in Nvidia Control Panel and it seems to work for now.

If youre talking about nvidia drivers update, this is why I don't use game ready drivers and instead use studio drivers. More stable.

No, I was talking about the game update. This has nothing to do with nvidia drivers. all is up to date and I was playing vanilla game, no mods.
Fun thing is yesterday when the script enabler plugin was still working the game crashed a lot less than playing it vanilla:D I don' t get it. It feels totally random. I was playing modded nearly the whole day without any crash and the next day without changing ANYTHING I had crashes every hour or so.
But now after the last game update I play vanilla game and it crashes every five minutes.
Most of the time when I just got a legendary item in a fight or something -.-
Removed all mods, files are veryfied..

all mods ned updates even the dlss mod so until its done either remove them or wait. the update only fixed 3 questbugs and nothing else so its unlikely that it has some impact on performance.

again, no mods. vanilla. I know all that. This is not mod related. It happens with the vanilla game. And it got worse with the last patch. had crashes since the start of the game but it wasn' t this bad. every hour or two. Then there was the patch and now the game crashes every few minutes, as said before.
I only use a very basic reshade at the moment and even without it it crashes. Surprisingly even more often^^

same here. no mods. straight up vanilla. before this update the game would crash every now and then but i managed to go at it for hours at a time. now every 5 minutes in any location every time freeze and CTD.
i payed a lot of money for a game that requires me to go through a kind of flight check list every time i play it to minimize cpu usage, manage temps and free up memory as if i was running it on a potato. im not. and now it wont stop CTD.

while my loading screens seem to take a little longer to load after the patch... framerate is noticeably more consistent...:-)

Follow that walkthrough. You only need to copy the exe. Your game will be like it was pre patch.

I followed this guide and downloaded the old files. Will try it out. but will steam think they are the new files? Should be old version numbers. Won't it update them again at the next start?
