I think not. I don't understand why people get angry every time a LGBT character appears in the game or at the possibility of having a gay romance with 2 male Starfield companions.

As a gaymer I have had to roleplay straight romances in most RPGs prior to 2020 and I have not complained until now. And surprisingly, after multiple romances with women, I still have not become straight LMAO. Soo dont be afraid, interacting with a gay or trans npc is not going to make you gay or trans.

Finally, it bothers me that people complain that the game gives the player the OPTION of having a gay romance or being trans, when gaymers have been forced in heteronormative relationships in most of the RPGs from the last decade.

Yup. So far I have yet to remember an heterosexual couple that has an important role to play in a quest (there are few cases of being ♥♥♥♥ buddies/cheating but that is essentially it).

Some people think even a single gay or trans person is representation. Look at the BG2: Siege of Dragonspear debacle. A merchant NPC, who you did not have to interact with whatsoever, had optional dialogue revealing she was trans. It caused a huge controversy, people saying it was forced or didn't make sense (never mind that the first game had a belt that changed your sex). Made it clear to me that even a single queer character, no matter how optional/buried their dialogue revealing their identity, will be called woke or forced by certain folk.

You have it wrong, it is not just same sex flirting, in modern games everybody flirts with you regardless their sex, personality, gender, height, age, ethnicity, religion, etc.... its called having a choice.. you can simply tell the game "I don´t want a relation" and it will move on.

That you find this "woke" is because you are tainted by SOME and local debates. It blinds your perspective and you forget to look at the broader picture or logical explanations to various things..

Are you sure you have played RPG´s, because I´ve been able to make choices (and same sex as well) since the 90´s in most RPG´s

I think you’re trolling but I’ll answer honestly. It’s not, it’s not anywhere near close to actual representation, no game or show or movie is. We’re still relegated to either playersexual romances or hearing a few background NPC’s talk about being in a same sex relationship. Barrett is an exception for bi representation but that’s about it.

First of all, you arent forced to flirt with anyone on this game. Second, if you’re worried that a game or “woke agenda” can turn you or anyone gay, you may be lying to yourself about your own sexuality.

It is not agains the guidelines to debate political or even religiously here on steam anymore. The new guidelines made it more free to express yourself.
The op´s topic is old.. since its been over debated, I agree on that, but its still game relevant.
