Terrormorphs on New Atlantis
Was trying to survey New Atlantis and ran across an abandoned ship building facility. Found 3 dead pirates and later found out why - 3 TerrorMorphs had wandered in. I actually escaped because I ran and used my jet pack (I am only level 6).

The point of this is there is no way to report the sighting, no quest to join an expedition to kill them, no follow up at all. Based on the archives (that's how I knew what they were) and the destruction of New London because of them - I would have expected this to be a BIG deal!!! Now, at least 3 of them are on Jamieson - home world of the UC.

it's a generated point of interest, it's quite uncommon, but you get terramorph encounters (I had three so far in 50 hours); they're like deathclaws from fallout: big scary monsters of legend [allegedly].

I found two on Paradiso, the Galaxy's favorite vacation spot. lol

For what it's worth if you do the Vanguard storyline(Which I am only part way through) you learn more about them.

Any world with a human population...even a small population...will have terrormorps appear on it within a 100 years or so. Jameson has been populated by a MASSIVE human colony for well over a hundred years. So It makes sense there'd probably be a couple dozen or so scattered Terrormorphs around the planet.

But the New Atlantis has sufficient defenses and warning systems to ensure some terrormorph out in the wilderness isn't gonna just randomly wander in without warning and start slaughtering people.

At least under normal circumstances. Heh.

Londinium was a one-off where dozens(maybe hundreds?) of Terrormorphs appeared at once and swarmed the city all at once. It was never explained. I'm sure it will be explained in the Vanguard questline since it's heavily focused on Terrormorphs but i'm not far enough into it yet to say for sure.

Right now i'm just assuming the obvious...somebody in the UC Xenowarfare division must have succeeded in weaponizing Terrormorphs but lost control of them on Londinium and is now back at it. But I might be wrong. We'll see.

Its random generated and they come heat leaches, wich are everywhere in game so really they could show up anywhere that has right conditions.

nah im with you. like 75% of that storyline is trying to figure out where terrormorphs come from, the intrigue of how they appear in human colonies, and how to stop them. it's literally the driving force of the storyline

knowing the big reveal beforehand deflates so much of the intrigue and enjoyment of one of the best stories in the game. im surprised ppl throw it around in casual conversation

lol well... you can spoil it by saying the spoiler? whether you finished it personally is irrelevant if you already know the twist. & casually told it to fresh level 6 dusty who just wondered why terrormorphs spawned on his random gen.

heatleech isn't even a word used in the script up until the reveal. it's not obvious. it's not the da vinci code, you can figure it out if you think about it, but you're wild if you're trying to act like there was some flashing billboard

Mate heat leeches is the first thing the ship vendor said to me at New Atlantis at level 1.

Guards and tech RNG tell you about massive heat leeches sucking power wandering about Atlantis at level 1. There is no big secret about it.

you're obviously not understanding the story they're trying to tell.

heatleeches are brought up outside the questline because they're everyday pests, like cockroaches or spiders. people just treat them like little worms that get in places. heatleeches are not mentioned directly in the vanguard storyline until the reveal bc youre not meant to suspect them

terrormorphs however are awful creatures, alien-tier human hunters that nobody knows where they come from, only that they appear in human colonies after X amount of time. again, the vast majority of the story is trying to understand them -- including, maybe most importantly, where they come from/how they appear

and the reveal is that the everyday pest that the mechanics remind you to check your ship for every few stops will kill you, your family, and your whole colony in just 50 years after a gestation period

of course if you're trying to convince me you walked out of the frontier at new atlantis, heard the mechanic say the word "heatleech" and immediately thought to yourself "ahh those become terrormorphs hmhm i see therefore im not spoiling the story since its so obvious to me" then im just straight saying you're lying

Ok. Call me a Liar then because that is exactly what I did. It is not my fault I have read books the devs stole the storyline from.

Do you want me to name a book specifically? Because I have a few here with the "leech" trope.

"Legacy of Heorote" - Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle (with Steven Barnes).

The Legacy of Heorot is a science fiction novel by American writers Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Steven Barnes, first published in 1987.[1] Reproduction and fertility expert Dr Jack Cohen acted as a consultant on the book, designing the novel life cycle of the alien antagonists, the grendels.[2]

This is the first book in the Heorot series. It concerns the establishment of the first human colony on Avalon, the fourth planet of Tau Ceti.

1990 is when I read that, my first year in High School. Still have it here in my hand in hardback.

not quite. UC made their own using the terramorph dna to win the war against the freestar but originally they are "mother nature". They were never created by humans. Just weaponized
