Game won't launch after new Nvidia driver update?
Anyone else having problems? I just updated Nvidia drivers - launch the game - get the initial copyright screen then the screen turns white and says "not responding" and it crashes. Great.

I restarted and now I can HEAR the game running in the background (music) but there's nothing I can do to bring up the game visually. Just shows my desktop. Very frustrating. Yeah - I know what you mean - I usually pick up AAA titles like this a year after release so all the kinks are worked out - but this one has be addicted. Wish I could play it on my day off from work though. Next thing I may try is to rollback the drivers.

After installing the new drivers, the game reloaded or redrew the shaders when I started it, like it did when I first got it, and works fine.

It worked fine before as well, though. Very smooth and no problems. Maybe try manually deleting the shaders, for those that are having problems. Not sure how to do it, but I think I've read something about that before.

I haven't been able to get the game to even open since day 1, running a RTX 3060. The play button in Steam changes to "stop", then turns back to green and says "play", without the game ever opening at all even in Task Manager. This will be my third reinstall before refund time.

You could always try rolling back to the old driver. Use display driver unistaller (DDU) to uninstall the current one and download the old driver directly from Nvidia's website.

so far no problems with new drivers, it rebuilded the shaders when i first booted the game after driver update. but that's about it. game ran alse much better, BUUUUUT i can clearly see why, the drivers clearly disabled more then a few "settings" for this game, atleast of what i can tell and see on my end that is. weirdly ehnuff ingame settings nothing changed, but i'm sure more then a few options are disabled, because the game looks very different to me now. not in a bad way, its finally good to play with nice fps and smooth running. THX Nvidia.

So I rolled back the drivers and now the game sometimes hangs on loading screens between fast travel sections. Just hangs forever forcing me to close the process and reload. Also noticed something else new but don't know if it's related - but when the game doesn't hang between fast travel loads - I appear about 25 feet off the ground and it drops me causing limb damage. That's really annoying. I played for like 26 hours and had ZERO glitches or bugs before installing this latest driver.

Rollback to the old drivers and/or manually delete your shader cache.

From the notes this patch seemed to address ReBAR and the UWP version of Starfield. maybe your GPU needs a vBIOS update for ReBAR; your motherboard might as well.

sounds like an Nvidia problem

I updated NVIDIA yesterday and have no problems running the game.

Nvidia can't change the in-game settings. That has to be done by Bethesda.

Played for a while now with the new drivers, and it's still smooth as silk as mentioned above.

I play on 1440p (specs in profile), and with all settings to max (High/Ultra) in game except for shadows, which is on medium. It's what GeForce Experience sets them on when I select the option one notch above 'optimal'. This notch is at the center of the slider for me ('optimal' naturally varies depending on people's hardware). FSR, 80% resolution scale, Dynamic resolution off, VRS on. Locked fps to 72 in Nvidia control panel, but it can drop to about 55-60 in places like New Atlantis.

Not tried the DLSS mod yet. As long as it works as good as it does, but might try it later.
