Secondly, you must've missed the memo. MS bought Obsidian Ent. MS bought them before they bought Bethesda.
Microsoft owns both studios already.
The real questions is why is it so hard for Microsoft and Bethesda to find good writers for their RPG games?
Obsidian is good, but not amazing. I've been playing Obsidian titles ever since NWN2.
Microsoft already acquired Obsidian a few years back. The people that worked on FNV don't work there anymore. Thus, it is not the same Obsidian.
Obsidian had good writers (emphasis on had) but for years were too afraid to go "all the way" because they didn't want to repeat the ordeal they went through with Black Isle.
NWN2 is very averagely written, then suddenly the same people put out Mask of the Betrayer. The only explanation is that they wrote NWN2 like that intentionally because they were afraid the game wouldn't have sold with more advanced writing.
Joke's on Obsidian, they could've been Larian Studios, instead now they're just slaves to MSFT.
Tyranny was a really unique game though, prob my favorite title of theirs.
Bethesda ruined themselves. If anything, Microsoft saved this game from being even more of a disaster by making them delay the release.
