If I put resources in chests in my house.. Can I use them directly from the chest?
Resources are super heavy.... You can build storage containers and place them on your house or ship.... If you do that are they still able to be used at stations like research or whatever? Or do you need to have them in your active ship hold or personal inventory?

Storage "containers", no, there's none which accessible from research or crafting stations. But for an outpost you can build specific structures that are storage which are accessible by crafting stations and research. Those would be the warehouses and the specific storage for bulk resources.

Or, if you use the lodge as your crafting homefront, you can use a mod that makes the unlimited-capacity containers there accessible by the benches. Link Lodge mod[www.nexusmods.com]

Nope you're going to have to get used to T-storing all and R-removing all before and after every research/build/crafting job. The only places that are connected afaik are ship and player inventory.

Best bet is to build as many of the small sized chests in decoration > storage in your research/crafting area. All storage boxes have the same size so you can fit more of the smaller ones than you can say, The industrial ones.

What is T and R Storage?

So I need to build an outpost and at the outpost build a "warehouse"... And then those resources are accessible from any "station"? (as in workbench or research station)

Yes, warehouses and the bulk resource storage.

T is 'store all' in most contexts and R is 'take all' when dealing with containers (At least on PC)

Short answer is yes you can sometimes. I've no idea if the work benches have an aura you need to have the containers in or what, but I have successfully done that. It has also not worked in the same place (dream home). Mostly I just pick everything up and waddle about with 900 in my inventory.

But if I build a warehouse district and ship all my stuff there.. I can access those materials from ANY workshop table thing in the game world? Or do I need to build a garage and all the workstations on the warehouse planet?

Sounds inconvinient, just cut the cargo hubs and make a workshop, research and living quarters hub on your ship.

Cargo hubs does basicly nothing as cargo got their own modules.
It's a bit hard to find due to the inconsistent UI, but hubs got different interior versions.

All "shops/ship trader" I encoutered got some version of the crafting hubs if you scroll trough the 2x1 hubs or larger.
