Radiation. It automatically goes away once you enter your ship.

It's not an infliction or ailment it's either environmental damage or from enemy EM weapons.

OP is talking about the orange meter that starts at the right and goes left decreasing your maximum HP. The "Rad" damage in Fallout 4 basically.

OP, the answer is you don't. There is no way to decrease that except to be in an environment where your suit is regenerating, and you can wait awhile.

There was a random dungeon with Va'ruun idiots shooting at me with disruptors I guess. Decided not to bother when HP was nearly completely yellow.

I guess I can only upgrade radiation resistance

They probably have weapons that are reducing your max hp, which is MUCH more annoying than it was in Fallout 4, as there is no "Rad Away" equivalent in Starfield to remove it in the moment.

I only sleep back at the Lodge because otherwise 9/10 Sarah jumps my character for sexytime which is really awkward.

Standing in the crew berthing area boinking as Sam and his (12 year old?) Daughter are in the next bed over and all the lights are on and there are no partitions what-so-ever.... I'd say it might be time to involve space CPS, but judging from how the end of the game went I don't think they will be able to do anything.
