This may have complicated things but I don't think that is why the game sucks. The final say was still at Bethesda proper. People there signed off on everything. Just because some third party modeled some appliances doesn't mean that the game is bad as a result, just as the iPhone being manufactured in China can still be good.

the list of studios is 100% correct, and so is who owns them, and they are an extremely bottom of the barrel company living on slave labour basically.
The reason adding woke stuff in games is so good for them is because its an easy tick on the ESG score, they score low on literally anything related to labour, manufacturing, use of materials, green energy etc, but they are really high for diversity and equity in products.
I laughed my ass off when i saw "use of slave labour" as a negative but the positive list has "diversity and equality" as a green token.. hahahahhhaha

Thank you for sharing this, it explains a lot.
But unfortunately that won't change anything, people like mediocrity because thinking the opposite would make them stand out from the herd, and they are afraid of being sidelined.

The fact that Starfield hasn't gotten the reviews it deserves and still managed to be profitable doesn't bode well for The Elders Scrolls 6, had Bethesda received the kick in the ass it deserved for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, he would perhaps no longer rest on his past glories. Unfortunately, don't expect much from what will come out of this studio anymore.

I really doubt 6M users, including all the gamepass crowd, is enough to make Starfield profitable, specially if they spent 400M$ to develop and market it.

It might be Bethesda's swansong. As for TES6, it's pure vaporware. Might as well be the next Bethesda mobile game if they dont change engine.

Elden Ring also had like 20 extra studios helping out, nothing strange

This was not made by Bethesda.

This is pretty similar to what happened with Ubisoft's AC Valhalla. That game had an ending rolling credit of two hours.

Despite being their most sold game so far, they still announced downsizing and massive deficit last year.

its fine when it works...and is done properly...

its different when you are using bottom of the barrel outsourcing and it turns out terriblle eh.

I suppose "Hollywood accounting" where tax-wise no movie ever earns a profit might actually exist, and it might also apply to game companies. In which case, Microsoft is laughing all the way to the bank.
