Not Utilizing GPU
I've been playing through the PC gamepass and I have had about 50 hours with no issues but all of a sudden the game just stopped utilizing my GPU. I've tried updating windows, drivers, reinstalling the game, and nothing has fixed the issue. On MSI afterburner it just shows my GPU usage at 210MHz until I leave the game, then it goes back up. Anyone have this happen to them/know how to fix it?

I'm running a 5800x3d and a 3080ti

Are you on a laptop? If so it might be using your built in graphics. You should be able to force it to use the correct one through the Nvidia control panel.

Hey there, I had a similar issue with the same graphics card and it was driving me nuts. Two things fixed it for me:

1. Enable Resizeable BAR aka "ReBAR" on the motherboard BIOS and the gpu driver. It's too long to explain, just search for it on the Starfield reddit and there are a couple of good posts explaining it with links to the Nvidia site explaining even more. It will likely involve a BIOS update on your mobo, gpu, or both.
2. Go into your motherboard's software control center (for me it was MSI Center) and make sure it's not unfairly restricting the CPU. Once I unlocked the CPU performance, it then for reasons I can't fully explain allowed the GPU to do its job better as well.

I can't explain either of the above in detail, I just know they fixed this issue for me.

First, I'm assuming your motherboard is a MSI board (or a MSI laptop), otherwise this won't work. If it is, continue:

1. Open MSI center
2. Install the "User Experience" feature - it was not installed by default for me.
3. Open the User Experience feature module and set either to Custom (on the right side) or whatever the Extreme/Performance option is, usually on the left side. Just whatever you do, do NOT use the "Silent" preset as it really clamps down your system.

New Nvidia drivers now enable ReBar as default so you shouldn't have to do it anymore. It is the exact same settings that were there from what people had been posting. Performance will improve if you never had it though. You also have to make sure your PC supports it and you can check in the Nvidia control panel to make sure the feature is available for you.

Some of the first release / founder edition cards require the driver update, though. And at least my own mobo had the rebar setting disabled by default.

I enabled ReBAR in my bios (I do have an MSI motherboard in my desktop) and did the MSI center thing and both didn't fix my issue :(

I appreciate the help tho

I had to heavily overclock my RX6800 to get it to use more of it that alone gave me 10-15fps this game runs really cold almost like it's not using the full power of my system.

Nvidia never finished the drivers to work properly with this game. All nvidia gpus are being under utilized until they release a competent driver update.

Oh yeah for sure. I feel like Nvidia drivers for this game are garbage since equivalent AMD cards are pushing higher FPS. It is probably just Bethesda working on the Xbox versions more and carrying it over since they are all AMD based.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
