What's the absolute best ship in the Starfield?
Hi,

As the subject suggests, I would like to know what's the very best ship.
I mean the one and only that you won't have to upgrade after or switch.
Credits are not an issue of course as I'll be saving up for that one only and also upgrading the commerce skill to the max.

Thanks in advance.

The best ship is the one you build yourself, nothing else can compare.
That said, I do believe people like the Ecliptic Claymore 3 if you really don't want to do any ship building.
^^^Word^^^
The Claymore is also one of the best for re-configuring in the shipbuilder, I've used it more than any other model.
The Claymore 3 is my favorite NPC ship to steal and modify. I get it a LOT for some reason as I work my way up the NG+ universes. I also get the UC Reef 3 and Va'ruun Prophecy 3. Which are good enough since they are class C and come with loads of cargo by default. But I much rather have the Claymore with its simple design.

The one you make yourself, obviously.

The answer to that is that it depends. Compromises will need to be made, pretty much no matter what you build.

Class C engines can be the most efficient, but have the downside of lower max speed. Class C reactors and drives are twice as large and the drives require more max power to get the same results, but have much more hull HP. Missiles have varying capacities to them. Auto weapons have great burst damage, but might suffer in sustained fire and initial strike damage. Turrets are useful, but less powerful than their static variants. Class C shields often have higher maximum powers, but lower recharge rates. Cargo capacity comes at a penalty to jump range and maneuverability. Shielded cargo weighs even more than standard cargo for the same space.

Lasers are only really good against shields and suffer vs hull. Ballistics are the opposite. Particle beams and missiles do equal damage to both, but are less efficient at either compared to their specialized versions.

Totally this,....
Why dose no one see this? and it saves you from grind. (or wicki)

I'd like to point out that The Frontier also has a module that is only available on it.
i usually by a cargo ship and strip off some of the containers making it very mobile with its larger engines and build from there.

Agreed.
If you sell it , then its gone if you leave and come back.
I never sell the frontier EVER.

There are two philosophies in ship building;
1) HUGE with as much cargo as you can get away with
2) Small and fast with a hard limit on total ship mass; the fastest engine is a class A which allows for a max ship mass of 1020 before losing maneuverability and you only need 5 landing thrust up until 1000 mass where it ticks over into needing 6

So I went with the latter option:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3110190137
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3110233782

It might not be the greatest looker, but the only excess mass it wastes is on portholes. That's every crafting station including 2 beds as well as 7 passenger slots crammed into as tight a package as I could manage. I don't have the com spike or conduction grid yet but I've budgeted just enough free space left for them without breaking anything when I do get em.

Equipment List:
Ship Bed 200 Landing Bay (Aft)
Caravel V103 Cargo Hold - as much cargo as possible without going over 1000 ship mass
100CM Ballast Shielded Cargo Hold - enough shielded cargo to smuggle without wasting any excess mass
Cabot C4 Bridge
100DP Slim Docker - Bottom
White Dwarf 3015 Engine - the ONLY 180 speed engine
Scan Jammer - Multi-Frequency
M50 Ulysses He3 Tank
Pinpoint 3G Landing Gear - Fore/Mid/Aft
RD-3000 Beta Grav Drive - absolute best grav drive for this ship mass
2x1 Science Lab - Nova Galactic
2x1 Workshop - Nova Galactic
2x2 Battle Stations - HopeTech
2x2 Living Quarters - Nova Galactic
1x1 Companionway - HopeTech
1x1 Storeroom - HopeTech
Pinch 8Z Reactor
28T Defender Shield Generator - 2nd best shield and saves 70 mass vs best
Equipment Plate
Porthole - Aft/Port/Stb/Top/Bottom
Nova Cowling 1L-TF
Nova Wing - Port/Stb
Obliterator 250MeV Alpha Beam Turret - Highest DPS turrets, pointed BACKWARDS
PBO-175 Auto Helion Beam - Highest DPS manual fire particle weapon
Nullifier 1750 Suppressor - Highest EM DPS, only used when capturing ships

I like a massive shields and just entering a system and annihilating enemies one after the other, and a massive cargo hold so I went Narwhal and Stronghold with adds to max shields and more cargo space and added alot of Particle weapons and found that fun and easy to use overall and you can get anywhere easy. Overall I went with Class C Ships because of my enjoyment of OP play. I did find these ships the best out of the box...

Any of the The Ecliptic Claymore Ships are nice to be in aesthetically and work well with some updated parts.

I also found the Dragonfire ships easy to add some of the bigger cockpits to it which I found worth it from a building prospective with out all the hassle of building from scratch for the bigger parts.

Overall any ship will work but once you buy it and play it you will see its flaws and need to do upgrades to fill on those gaps to match your play style and once you do some upgrades they become more worthy. I would pick the one you like to look at inside out out and work with it to make it into the most fun ship you can upgrade to as it is easier to upgrade than full blown make over.

This is

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3058934675

Has the highest dps weapons and the max storage, least landing gear, every crafting station, a bed, max crew capacity, additional passenger capacity, storage crates, can get to the cockpit from the docking clamp or the ramp in under 3 seconds and when I say max of things like storage I mean while still staying at max manoeuvrability, the shield is not the strongest but it has a faster regen and weighs half as much as the supposedly best shield double weight for just an extra 150 shields and slower regen is worthless when you have max manoeuvrability as you can strafe out of fire to regen shields. This ship also has just enough weight limit left for the crimson fleet mission parts while still staying at max manoeuvrability.

Without cheats .................. I mean mods this is the best ship in the entire game, there are storage parts that are 0.1 more efficient for their weight but they do not have good connection points so you need more structural parts to attach them to thus making them worse as the weight to storage gain from using them is lost and then some when it comes to needing additional parts to attach said 0.1 more efficient storage. All in all you can't get better in the game as it stands, also with the shield and engine skills you get 60% more shields and have a top speed of over 150 making you faster than every other ship in the game except the crimson fleet hellhound with a max speed of 180 and the only way any ship is beating it is if you use the same class A engines it does and then have the max speed increase from your skills.

The best ship in the game is definitely the Frontier, because you get it for free and once you have all the best modules on it, there's no reason to switch to anything else.

I'm not even joking - there's no point in purchasing additional ships, and the Star Guardian, even at level 7, sucks because it absolutely pales in comparison to an even PARTIALLY upgraded Frontier, much less a FULLY upgraded one.

But if you're 100% adverse to the ship builder, the best ship is probably the Razorleaf from the Mantis sidequest? I never did do a direct comparison between the Razorleaf on a level 100 character and the Star Guardian VII

The Guardian ships are all trash and the Razorleaf is about as durable as a leaf and not at all suited for any of the heavy 4 or 5 on 1 combat situations the game throws at you, even low level ships pose a threat to it. You want to build your own ship that can and will melt everything, my ship has destroyed 3 legendary ships on the hardest difficulty without ever taking hull damage, the razorleaf would not even be able to get in range before being doomed to destruction.

Nice!
Now try at "Serpentis" system .
3x enemy. not 2x. move on to the next planet (in serpentis) that give you 3x.
Then come back and say .
My A class won on 3x lethal.

Maybe you can try and hijack the Camulus?

I wouldn't know really, I've never actually bought a ship. I stole some and I heavily invested into the -from origin- Frontier that is now my Pride 'n Joy Battlecruiser.
I'm planning on using the Mantis Ship (forgot the actual name) to make it into a secondary Battlecruiser. Gonna cost around about 300K I reckon.

The Frontier, since that's the ship you can't sell, even if you replace everything.... well, i did, including the HAB, hehehe.
Ramar 11 dez. 2023 às 12:17
Will you loose the perk from the Mantis by re-building everything? From what I'm understanding, you could take any ship in the game, and with enough credits, make it the best ship in the game. Only the designs change.

But, the Razorleaf has a special perk to it. You may not want it, and that's ok. But it does have one. So, could you not make the Razorleaf as powerful as the Frontier or any other ship plus have that perk?

Also, is there any other ships in the game that have perks?
And finally, does anybody know if you change the name of the Razorleaf will it get rid of it's perk?

The Frontier can be sold, just not for full price. If you get the Ship Services Tech's bank down below the sale price, he'll buy it. Same for Guardians. That can be done by selling him ships, and/or bits and pieces of ships in the shipbuilder. I've sold every Frontier and Guardian in my three playtrhoughs, and since they're pre-registered, it's all profit, even if you sell at a nominal "loss."

If you want to explore custom ship-building, get into hijacking ships that land while you're out exploring, You'll have opportunities to capture/steal a large range of vessels to pull into the chop shop and reconfigure. You can sell the ones you don't like for a small to modest profit after registration, but the chief reward is learning how to build a very capable starship, depending on your needs.
