Softlocked during quest "Return to Vectera"

So I'm doing the quest "Return to Vectera". However, my ship (which is still the Frontier, I haven't changed it) is invisible when on the ground on Vectera.

I can fast-travel to it but it's inside the rock. Then when I get out of my seat I'm stuck among machinery. If I launch, I can do that but once in space I end up in some kind of "exploded view" where all the different parts of my ship are displayed separate from one another: Reactor above it, parts all over the place, I can see into ship from 3rd person, open doors and ramps, etcetera.

And to make matters worse, when I get out of my seat in space, the whole thing appears much brighter than it should, almost blinding, and VASCO is just a dark shadow on the wall.

It's a game-ruining bug. I could reload a save, but the autosaves are all either while I'm on the mission, or while I'm on the ship.

what I would try if I had that issue:

A) Try the ship editor if you can leave, so it "resets" the ship
B) If you can't leave, see if there is a console command to teleport the ship elsewhere.
C) If that does not work, fast travel or teleport yourself somewhere to make a whole NEW ship, perhaps identical to the old one, and sell the original to 'delete' it. [Use console commands for any of that if you need to, including teleport/hangar skill/extra money, etc]

However, you explained your issue and I gave you a list of steps to correct it, and it seems the effort of losing an entire evening of gameplay was less work than taking 15-30 minutes to fix it with console commands and mods.

I'm not mad, I just don't understand what the point of your post was other than complaining about being stuck. Should perhaps file a bug report instead of venting to the forum about it when you didn't want help fixing it.

Well, it seems I fixed it by reloading a save from the previous night.
