Mei had been talking to the woman behind the bar, so being aware of the issue, I waited for her to finish, and for her to go stand by the stairs. I then started the conversation with her. Once I completed talking to her, it dropped back to normal view, and she started taking immediately, as if she was in a conversation with someone else, but there was no one there, and I could only hear her side of the conversation, as if she should have been stood somewhere else, with someone else. Plus of course she still just stood there, not starting the run.
As I knew of this issue, I'd fast saved just before talking to her, so I loaded, waited a few seconds, tried again, this time it worked!
Seems to me that perhaps there is some sort of lock that should be applied to NPCs when you start talking to them, to block their normal routine, and for some reason this isn't being applied to Mei?
@CyberWolf Thanks for that tip, will try that next time, at least then the conversation to start a run should be much shorter and less likely to bug out.
You will have to do the mission from the beginning by using a previous save. Then toward the end of the conversation with Mei Devine, choose "I need to prepare" from the dialogue options.
It is repeatable. Thats why Mia tells u if u up for running red mile again come see her
using the console will bork achievements unless you use mods to fix it. its there if anyone wants it
This here is the solution. I had the glitched issue the first time I did the quest. Save the game before talking to the Ranger at the table with her sister and then get the Runner's Rush from the bartender and then don't talk to Mel until she is done talking to anyone else there.
I have done that quest now 4 times and it has not glitched once following those directions.
