cant steal pirate ship that has landed on a planet
why can you steal a ship in space but you cant steal if it lands it just gives you an inaccessible when you try to board the ship (on the planet)
this really makes no sense what so ever

The only situations I have not been able to steal a ship on the planet is when I didn't have the skill to fly it and when it was some how connected to a quest, the game said it was inaccessible.

In my case, I walked over to talk to the captain probably to ask him why every captain in the entirety of space seems to suck at stocking their own ship parts, When a local wildlife ran in and -ATE HIM-

To this moment, Any time I go back to my base on that planet the rest of the crew of that ship still stands around doing nothing, The ship is still there and the captain is still animal food.

As to pirate/ecliptic ships landing you have to kill all the ground crew before the hatch will become accessible. Successfully hiding till combat ends will work too but if you're doing this take the last few guys out from the ramp because the ships have a bad habit of taking off when you kill everybody. As mentioned in another response here though there's next to no point to doing this. The cost of registration vs what you actually get for selling the ships is next to nothing.
lol its not about money or xp i just love putting pirates down for a dirt nap and taking there stuff i dont wanna kill innocent npcs i want all pirates dead lol

Uh I stollen like 4 of them you just kill ones at the base and rush in before it flees then open the hatch then clear it out. You must only tried ones related to a quest that can't be stolen sigh...

"Inaccessible" means it is a friendly ship. You can usually only steal enemy ships. But there is a way!
Notice the name on this ship ; /

You can just rush the ship. Clear out those on board and then come back out to kill the rest. That way the ship will have a lower chance of fleeing before you can get on board.

I have stolen a few pirate and Va'Ruun heretic ships that landed while I was exploring.

Each time I did this I ignored the crew outside and made a beeline to the ramp and boarded.

I have seen ships with inaccessible doors before mainly landed Starborn ships but sometimes spacer or pirate ships that drop off reinforcements to a POI I am fighting at.

You can board friendly ships.
Clearly, I have.
My point was if you get to a ship and try to board it, and the boarding bay hatch says "Inaccessible", it is because it is considered a friendly ship. You won't get that message on enemy ships. I did close with there is a way, meaning you can.

Most of the random encounter ones are stealable, but not always. I think some ships just have the parts that are not allowed in the ship builder

Yep had this happen. Usually its a reinforcements ship (spacers for me) on a side quest. Its unnaccessible even if using the unlock command.

Maybe intended for balance, as a way to provide reinforcements without benefitting the player (with the gift of a free stealable ship)
TheRolfgar Sep 11, 2023 @ 4:41pm
Ignore the enemy ground crew, if you kill them all the ship locks up and you can't steal it.

I've had this happen too. I guess some can't be boarded. Just keep trying.

I had an enemy ship come down to drop troops off during a quest. I rushed the bay killing the troops and it said the ship was inaccessible. After walking away the ship then took off again.
