Unable to Rank Pilot Skill to 3 despite have 2 spare skill points

Hi

Not sure if Im doing something silly, but I want to fly class B ships, I have rank 2 Piloting, and when I track and rank up 3. It never unlocks, just displays yellow and says I have master the skill even though I cannot use those ships

Have you slaughtered the required ships to unlock the rank?

You have to complete the challenge listed to upgrade a skill.
Basically it means you need to kill more ships for piloting.

I just ranked up my piloting skill to 3 and then to 4 today, so it is working at least for some of us.

Maybe a silly question, but you have completed the required activities for it right? (Destroying x number of enemy ships).
Maybe take a screenshot of your skill screen with the pilot skill opened up so we can see it.

Most (all?) skill unlocks for one level, require you to 'master' the previous skill, see the previous skill for what you need to do to master it.

I did the challenge to destroy 30 ships, in order to unlock rank 3. screen shot below

According to that last screenshot, you already have rank 4 unlocked. How you skipped rank 3 and got rank 4, I have no idea, but that's what it shows and is probably why it won't let you do anything with rank 3.

I'm pretty sure 30 ships was the goal for going up to rank 4, not rank 3, btw. So I think you just lost track of what skill level you are at. If you hold your mouse over the piloting skill on the skills tree, it will tell you what rank you are at. It will say Current Rank: X/4, where x is your current skill level.

yeah your right, I am rank 4, Im such a numpty, I was getting confused because I was trying to assign crew members, when I haven't got that skill to increase
