One of my gripes is the amount of "invincible" npcs too. I know many are essential characters for the story line, but one of the things I loved about Oblivion was the ability to take out anyone even if it ruined the quest line

There seems to be alot more essential NPCs then in thier prior games.

I've thought about this a bit. The options to blow up Megaton, nuke the Institute... My only guess is that it would negatively affect the game's utopian messaging. 99.9% of the time in BGS games, I play as a boring good guy, but I really, reeeeeally wanted to cut down the CEO of Paradiso, even if that meant I couldn't finish the quest. I also constantly try to board grounded spaceships, but they're always "inaccessible", unless they're pirates. So many rules, and you're forced to follow them, even if no one's watching. Who cares what ship I board? Like I said, I always try to play a good guy, but sometimes someone's just asking for it, or the loot is too good pass up. Whatever...
