I just checked, but "Enable Steam Play for all other titles" is off. This is strange.

What I really asked (did you read my post?) was if is it normal to be able to install the game without select a compatibility mode (Proton).
Yes, but it depends on your Steam Play settings.
What settings do you have for Steam Play?
If it's on for 'supported titles' then you get the Install button for titles known to be compatible with Proton (typically anything 'Steam Deck' verified). Steam automatically picks which Proton to use, and the games compatibility setting will be blank.
If you also have the 'all titles' ticked, then it works for anything in your library.
In either case, usage is the same as if it was a Linux native game, i.e. you don't need to pick a compatibility option for the install button to show up, and if you go into the games individual settings, the Compatibility section will be blank, as it's using Steams global settings.
