Changing ship interior door/ladder placements
Dunno if this is the place to post game suggestions but, I would've liked it if you could choose where the doors and ladders go, like how you can just swap walls to windows in the outpost builder.
Would've been really nice instead of the RNG we have right now.

The current system is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb. The random ladder placement always puts it in the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ braindead locations. Same with the doors.

My god please. Dear god please. If there's a worst way of placing ladders and doors, invariably that's what I get.

1x1 Companion Ways are your best option for forcing ladders and doors in specific areas.

Yeah. Problem is tho that you have such a limited amount of space to work with, so placing them everywhere isn't always an option for the builds i make.

i had to use 1x1's so the game would stop replacing the beds in the sleeping hubs. we've got 4 kitchens and 2 beds. in other news the one bathroom, a combined toilet and shower, has a semi-opaque glass door for exactly no privacy. it's the main thoroughfare heading towards the bridge. this is one very open crew or a harem. not sure yet

You can do feedback on bethesdas website like submitting a bug. It goes into their ticket system to be reviewed.

Basically it would be nice to have a preview on the ship interior and be able to set at least the doors and ladders

Guys, you're being stale.
It's flying and it's OK!

The worst part is how the game tries to avoid layouts that make sense like a closed loop around your ship or ladders into isolated rooms instead of connecting them horizontally. You manage to build a staircase out of companionways and the moment you remove a hab from your build the ladders are suddenly all over the place again.

i really want to enjoy this as i can see the potential in the game but you'd think they'd give you an option to let you decide where to put the doors/ladders ect. some ships ive made i have to go up,down,up,down,up,down,up,down just to get to the other side, i feel like yet again bethesda has made another game that will rely on modders to fix

That is a much requested change/addition for the game. However, the more experienced you get with ship building and learn the layouts of the different Habs, it will be easier to design a ship which can avoid those issues.

there is a way to designate the path by clicking the hab connect points somehow.
Or you can
- avoid ladders by not stacking up or down (mostly, you often need at least 1 from the landing bay)
- avoid rat-mazes by connecting only one place per hab as you want it to be, fill with 1x1 rooms can help too. For example my basic 'start here' design is cockpit to captains quarters, and off the captains quarters in a Y like setup are the 2 crafting rooms, then out the back of those are rooms for passengers/crew/ other stuff that you don't need to visit but may need in a build. With this setup, I hardly have to move in the ship at all, never more than 2 units (in a 1x1 corridor unit sense) from the docking bay ladder. The bottom of the Y is the cockpit access, but I usually fly it from the map without sitting down.

Just get the warhorse from Neon, the layout of it is perfect, has the cockpit, main entrance, and starstation/ship entrance all on 1 level, No more ladders to slow ya down
