Black Holes
Why are there usually no black holes in these bigger space games?

In NMS there also aren't any black holes you can freely see, you have to do some kind of quest or something for thath I think?

Starfield isn't trying to be close to reality so why not at least one quest in which you could see a black hole?

Black holes are huge part of the space and they are, at least for me, the most interesting thing in space.

I think it would be nice to at least see some smaller black hole in a distance. Even if you can't get close to it, it would be cool to see it at least.

Also, I know that black holes are basically invisible, but we are not talking about reality here right?

You vastly underestimate what we could do to the planet if we wanted or just didn't care. Earth being barren by 2330 is possible but it would take something major like a global, severe and immediate nuclear war or a global biological contaminant ravaging all life. Something pretty damned extreme.
300 years imo is extremely short amount of time for something like that to happen, especially the natural stuff. If it was like thousands of years then okay, it might be possible, but 300 years is like not even blink of an eye in Universe.
Dude, do you want spoiler? because the game explains why earth is not good and it is part of main story and one of major plots actually.

I suggest to play the game and finish the main story before ask for more content

That is why I said that Starfield isn't trying to be real so why not.

Starfield is in year 2330 and earth is dead in this game already which is impossible.

There are black holes flying around in cosmos so there might have at least be one which drifted close to us.
It’s not impossible and if there were a black hole close to us, in terms of space, we’d see that massive gravitational pull affecting things further out.
I am not astrophysicist, but I don't think that stellar mass black holes will affect anything unless they are VERY close to it.

There is a lore wise reason for earth to be dead already. But yea, even if there is no actual black holes in the close proximity irl, they could add one to pick the player curiosity, make a quest to survey it or something. Its must be pretty mysterious object to observe. Thing like that would be more entertaining then the galaxy filled with copy pasted planets
That is what I was thinking the whole time, it would just make the game much more interesting even though it wouldn't make sense. One quest would be enough to gather some info on the black hole, even if you can't really get to it, it would be interesting to at least gather some info from far away.

You will never get the chance to see something like that with your own eyes so let the games have it so you can see it at least like that lol

How about a wormhole to another place, like the center of the galaxy to visit the black hole?

Wormholes not realistic? Maybe, but without space-time bending stuff, such as the gravdrive, sci-fi games would be pointless. Its nessecary to have those stuff, otherwise to be not just science but science-fiction.

Mathematically, they exist though. A consequence of near infinite mass. Doesnt prove anything really I guess, but seeing how math can do a pretty good job of describing everything that can be in this universe, very probable.

Anyway, yeah if the magnetosphere was weak enough, nuclear devices could turn this planet to dust. Even with shield, it could still happen.

Did you guys know there is a theory that this happened on Mars? And that the most likely explanation is that someone/something did it?

https://www.hou.usra.edu/meetings/lpsc2015/eposter/2660.pdf

Hypothesis: Mars suffered explosion of large Thermonuclear weapon with fusion+fission over Mare Acidalium and possible a smaller one over Utopia Planum.
Both had mixed U-Th casing and D-T secondary.

Also, a mini blackhole woulda been cool. Although I believe planet 9/X is a ancient cold brown dwarf. Some people believe it could be a blackhole.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/08/planet-x-why-not-a-tiny-black-hole-instead/

Why do I think Planet X is a brown dwarf, besides ancient legends hehe.

https://www.nasa.gov/feature/backyard-worlds-planet-9/

Description: Is there a large planet at the fringes of our solar system awaiting discovery? At Backyardworlds.org, you can help NASA search for this planet and for new brown dwarfs in the backyard of the solar system.

Ask yourself and think very carefully about this. Why would they be searching for brown dwarfs while hunting for planet 9, if they didnt think planet 9 was a brown dwarf, and not a planetoid like they claimed........

Funny how much is being hidden from the masses, and most people just dont care.

A missed opportunity to add a space hazard while using fast travel.

There are a lot of things that aren't in the game. Neutron stars, binary moons, black holes, nebulas.. but that's okay. I don't remember those in Mass Effect either. Not every space game is a space sim.

Its will be by radiation.

There is just so much they could have done to make the game better...

They could have just added some research quests in which you would do some kind of NASA research. If you wanna learn something about black holes or galaxies or all kinds of other planets, unaccessible to the player, just invest into this perk and you will unlock some kind of NASA-like stations in which you would be able to apply for a job and observe all these things with a telescope or something and learn new stuff about the Starfield Universe.

It doesn't have to be that you will be able to get sucked into a black hole, all it could be is just something like I mentioned. For research purposes only. It might be boring for most players, but for some it might be a nice relax after some level grinding.

Bethesda will be do DLCs How many dependent from game success.

And even the smallest black hole will bend light and pull in matter. It’s how we know they’re there in the first place. We can’t see black holes, we can see how they affect the path of light and satellites near it

The game is in the future so plausible for a star in our “neighbourhood” to turn into a black hole, eg Betelgeuse

Blackhole would be a bit uneventful. Large black circle in space if it's not eating a sun. If you got too close and could not escape the gravitational pull, death.
