Nexus and why you should care

I am going to remain as neutral as possible because this isn't about which side you agree with. Censorship, in any form, is both wrong and inherently dishonest. Not only that, but given the circumstances, the implementation here is highly hypocritical.

I have been creating, uploading and download various content from this website for over 10 years. I have paid subscriptions, been paid by supporters, and enjoyed many hours of both creation and exploration. But I absolutely refuse to contribute to this insanity.

We're talking about a website that hosts actual and literal pornography. A website that allows mods to turn your Skyrim character into an actual prostitute. And yet with this statement, this blatant disregard for their own users, they've chosen to pull a power move because they believe that their website, being the behemoth that it is, will withstand the backlash.

This doesn't end with pronouns. It didn't end with Spiderman. And the slippery slope that we're witnessing isn't going to stop here. And that is why I urge you to simply do as they tell you; delete your account. That is the bold statement that they've made and this is their ridiculous line in the sand. Call their bluff.

To those that will undoubtedly respond with "touch grass" or "it's not a big deal"...well apparently it is a big enough deal for Nexus to actually permanently ban people over. And if it's not a big deal that the pronouns are in the game, then it shouldn't be a big deal that a mod removes them within a single-player experience.

As a content creator, I am embarrassed. And as a gamer and content consumer, I am outraged. This statement by Nexus is an absolute slap in the face to the content creators that built their website. The people that spend hours, days and sometimes years working for absolutely nothing more than the joy of the experience and the passion for gaming.

Do not support this arrogance. And I would like to reiterate the point that I am not choosing a side within the "pronouns war". I am simply stating that Nexus has no right to dictate what you can and cannot consume. It may be their website, but it's your choice how much you put up with. And it is we the content creators that ultimately pay them. We drive their traffic.

Pull your mods with a brief explanation and host them elsewhere. Because as I've stated, this slippery slope doesn't end here. And if you don't stand up when they slap you in the face, at what point is it enough?

Naturally, Bethesda has to try to squeeze more money out of people when they update the game with their own ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mod launcher where you have to buy every mod on it and its the only ones they feature. I cant believe people still support this development team and business especially when all they do is copy and paste assets and the same concepts over and over again. Any actual care died as soon as skyrim came out, and then continued to come out 87 more times.

I did as instructed and deleted my Nexus account. I really did't care about pronouns or excessive representation but that level of snotty message rubbed me the wrong way

It has more to do with "Here are laws for you but not for me". Cocaine have been found in the White House, child porn on Pentagon computers and even CIA agents who are known to be guilty of pedophilia yet no arrest were made. Those same people want to preach to the general public about pronouns.

Way to miss the point that was just spelled out to you in detail. It's not primarily about the pronouns, it's about authoritarian censorship and removal of choice for ideological purposes. This kind of thing has a very dark history.

I get that people have there views and stand points on things but this was about a mod. A mod to remove pronouns. Now this mod as we know would of been for a single player game. So honestly it only effects those who choose to use it. Those of course who want and like how the game is of course would never use it. Censorship was so not needed for this.

It's not censoship. Nexus is a private site that has no legal obligation to host specific content. The author had the freedom to make the mod and sites have the freedom to reject it. Basically the free market going brrrr

And content creators have a choice as to where to host their content. I am all for the free market going brrr. See example; Budlight.

Well if this is the case why censor this mod when they have sexual mods and even killable children mods? You would think these would also be banned to right?
