New game+ question, what does it change ?
I've been looking all over reddit, youtube etc to see what it changes but can't find a solid answer.

I don't mind spoilers, just add the spoiler tag for others.

So, besides your powers/perks, you lose/resets everything else.
But do planets/galaxy changes with NG+ (Biomes, materials) ? Or are they the same in every playthrough. If that changes, what else changes ?

Other than that, what is the point of NG+ ? Do you get bette gear, or ships ? Enemies ?

So, not sure about the biomes, but at the start of the new game you will get a unique ship and the outfit, that will upgrade with every new NG+ plus, up to 6, I think. Also if you find the powers every new game they will upgrade as well, up to 10. Also, some of the universes you end up in might be different from the other. For example in on of the new games everybody in the lodge might be dead, and the main quest will be a bit different, but that doesn't happen very often from what I've heard

Haven't gotten to new game + yet, so this is second hand info rather then based on personal experience.

Going new game + for the first time gets you a new armor and a ship and gets the choice to "skip" a lot of the main quest if you wish.

Going new game + again gives you a more advanced new armor (I think there is like 10 sets or something in total, so once you have gone new game + 10 times you should have the best one).

Then there is apparently "events" or "modifiers" that can only happen depending on how many new game +'s you have gone on your character, no idea how widespread or involved these are. Heard someone mention that there was a event that only happens once you have gone new time + 16 times or something ridicules like that.

Also heard you can "upgrade" the powers further and stuff like that.

Most likely more to it then that, but that is the parts i know about.

Oh what...
So it might be a good idea to just clear the game ASAP 10 times to get the max bonuses before spending hundreds of hours sandboxing. Good to know.

Those random events seems kinda cool even though i don't even know how they would fit the quest line ?! So basically, every NG+ offers you a random set of main quests ?

Christ, I can hardly imagine going through all these "follow NPC" quests 2 times, let alone 10 times.

oh, by advanced we mean, an upgraded version ? Or are there different stuff each NG+ ? Ship as well ?
Damn thing is crazy.

And here i was playing like in fallout 4, just exploring and collecting. Almost a 100 hours in and now i learn that NG+ indeed offers you new stuff. And there's more than one

im gonna die

There are 10 different armor sets, each more powerful then the last. Do note however that they are the same base model that is then retextured (first one is rather nice looking white armor for example) and with or without a piece of fabric (last armor is a black armor with a piece of fabric wrapped around it).

For the ship its the same ship but it gets better stats, but i think that stops upgrading before new game + 10 (around new game + 5 or 6 seems to be the limit for that one).

Also found a video going over a lot about new game + (armors, the ship and even some modifiers/universe variations):

While I appreciate NG+, I find its design rather asinine. This isn't a short roguelike, who has the time or inclination to go through dozens of new games just for it? If their intention is for us to bum rush the main quest over and over again, what's the point of base building? I want to take my time to set up intricate bases but at the same time I feel discouraged (ie wasted effort) to do so due to the FOMO of not having truly "completed" the game in terms of having access to all available content. If I could get it all with just 2 NG+, fine. But 10? They have got to be taking the piss.

Yeah. It's certainly odd that they have such a unique NG+ in terms of what it offers (not what most people think when they hear the phrase "NG+"), but is never explained in the game, at least not while people are spending the traditional large amount of time doing whatever, since the way NG+ works that time becomes relevant.

The way it is set up, the "main quest" is greatly abbreviated, unless you want to repeat it. The intention is not that you repeat it, just that you do the abbreviated version, and then progress. Yes, it contradicts the baseline construction of a Beth game, which is why it's odd that it isn't explained to players early enough so that they can at least make an informed decision before investing a lot of time in side activities, if they're the kind of player who will have NG+ FOMO.

I just started new game plus myself and starting the vanguard faction quest i skipped on first playthrough. So far this is what I found.

you lose all inventory/money.

You keep your level and skillpoints spent.

Planet exploration resets (I am on fence if this is a good or bad thing, good in that you can get rewards again for completing survey, bad in that if you wanted to 100% explore every planet over multiple new game + you don't keep what you explored, which is a little odd considering you "keep all your memories". I can see a mod allowing people to carry over certain things in future i'm sure.

You gain a cool ship and OP spacesuit to start out. However for me, the spaceship isn't nearly as good/powerful or functional as ones you build, but is still cool. I hear it will upgrade and get stronger though on future new game plus runs.

Your relationships and all reset.

You get option to skip main constellation quest and just go straight to artifact collecting for when you want to do another new game plus, so that saves time. I also heard you get special dialog options on existing faction quests you done before to help speed them up, but I haven't tested it yet, I fully completed 2 of the faction quest lines on my first play through and may start them again later just to see if it is indeed more streamlined and you still go through all the same locations again.

planet biomes and locations all seem exactly the same. If there is any difference I haven't noticed it yet. I think that the planet biomes as well as handmade locations like cities and story locations are static.

jesus, i usually try and go deep into the game for a few weeks, not rushing but doing everything just so i can say finally, Im done.

But yea, i guess you either rush NG+ after NG+ till the 10th then you go into "chill mode" (if the 10th is the final)

or you do 1 NG+ per year hahaha
10 years and we're done.

Joking aside, now, if the main quest or with some sidequests changes and you get a different galaxy ( I mean, a little changes with the planets while the cities, settlments stay the same) i can see myself playing a lot.

But if only a handfull of quests change, i don't see the point of going through it all
Mentally Unstable 10 SEP 2023 a las 1:49 p. m.
Regarding new "events" in ng+, are they unique to a particular ng+?

For example, a certain event or conversation happens in the first NG+ but isn't present in the second one which has its own set of new "events" and conversations? If that's how it is set up, we could potentially miss out on it due to trying to rush through all the NG+s. This will make it even more tedious for those of us who want to see everything since we would have to play through every bit in each NG+ to avoid missing out on it. :steamsad:
