Ship building is a PITA
Why do the ships have to have to be separated by vendor? That's a really frustrating design. Is there a way to have all the ship parts in one location? Along with that, why do machine vendors that use digital currency have a limit of 11k? The game is more about inventory management and menu screens than anything else. This is not good game design Bethesda. What made you think these things were fun?

Ship building is shallow and easy imo. But I play KSP and have visited a lot of planets.

I use this mod to have all pieces in one place, i already built an awsome ship using xD Keep in mind your going to need alot of credits to build a whole ship, and you cant save the design half way through either.

i mean, you dont go to a Vauxhall dealer looking to by a Ford.

i understand the frustration though- a nice idea could be a buildable ship part terminal in your base, where you could order specific parts in, but at a premium (to offset the fact that you dont need to roam the universe for certain parts).

the amount of annoying things in this game is just crazy

quest tracking, ship building, inventory management, outpost building
all these have bad ui an unnecessarily annoying design

The weird look to the ships is on purpose. They are not going for super smooth curvy type ships although some modules do allow for that look. They are going for more the standard current day spaceship with stuff sticking out all over. Our rockets are smoother than the ships in the game but if you look at our satellites and hab modules in space they look like these do. Not aesthetically pleasing. Function over form.
That is because you talkign about stuff that goes into atmosphere vs sits in space. Our ships land on planets so function would dictate more smoothe bits to reduce drag on plantes with atmospheres. I don't about you but many the places I land have atmosphere even if its not breathable physics still apply. Junk in space is in a vacum. my space ship spend 2/3 of its life landing and taking off, so ugly sharp edges would just be a nightmare for anything minus a moon.

So this doen't work at all its function over form you want random punk stuff for asthetics but i nreality second you land on a planet half your bits would break off if it was looking like a space only bit. That is just basic physics. Rockets are rounded becuaese they go up and back down some of them are reusable even in real life, space junk your talking about sits in side payload modules that protect them from leaving the planet sigh.

Reason Elite and them got junk looking bits all over is they never leave space if they do they need a lander of some kind and something to ge them back up our ships do both on their own. Hence they would be rounded like a space shuttle that is sitll just a flying brick FYI
If you throw a brick fast enough it will fly. Haha.

No I get it for sure. But some of my ships in KSP were not super smooth. The batteries always annoyed me as well as those struts you had to have everywhere. My Cutter, Clipper and Imperial Eagle in Elite are the smoothest ships I've seen. The Boron in XR and X4 also have some cool looking designs.

But there isn't anything realistic about Starfield at all. It isn't even trying to be. So I don't mind it.

But look at the Vulture in Elite. Do you really thing that would fly well on planets? And how are we flying on planets in Elite when 99% of them have no atmosphere to super thin atmospheres? In fact full atmosphere planets haven't even been implemented.

So I have to make concessions per game for this kind of thing.

I think you can have all the part if you build your own ship rig at a Outpost

You can scrap them. But you can't save the modules. Scrap the ship completely and rebuild a base crappy one from the parts you sold. Leave and get the money for the parts you sold. Then sell the ship.

I just meant some ships I capture have parts I don't have skills to buy yet. I know can't save but that's what I was talking about.

Usually I will just redesign withose pieces. Like the Crimoson Fleet Wight. Too much maze to it for my purpose so I streamline line it with the existing stuff

Not all of them manufacturers unfortunately. Can't get some parts avalaible on Neon or New Atlantis. It needs to be confirmed but to unlock some parts in your outpost, you'd need to find the proper manufacturer shipyard. That or the list is leveled or linked to your Piloting Skill. Can't confirm.

Another important part is the available parts list in Spaceports IS leveled and new variations of the same part/manufacturer appear on the vendor now that I'm past L10/Pilot2 (not talking about the requisite Ship Design Rank).

It has most parts from all manufacturers. However it does not have any of the unique parts that you can only get at the manufacturers HQ, like the bigger bridge cockpits, larger habs, hab connectors etc.

Was not my case. Andraphon player made Outpost, L12 Pilot 2, I'm getting [enhanced] Cockpit for Tayio and Stroud Eklund. At L5, Pilot 1, Stroud Eklund parts were not even on the list. And new parts appeared past l10 on the vendor at New Atlantis. So is the list leveled ? Tied to a location ? Is that because I visited the Stroud Eklund Shipyard ? The frack I have no clue why. But I guess it's too early and we're still collectively trying to figure it out lol...
