Ship building is a PITA
Why do the ships have to have to be separated by vendor? That's a really frustrating design. Is there a way to have all the ship parts in one location? Along with that, why do machine vendors that use digital currency have a limit of 11k? The game is more about inventory management and menu screens than anything else. This is not good game design Bethesda. What made you think these things were fun?

There is currently no way to have all ship parts in one location. But you can get like 90% of the ship parts in one location if you build the large landing pad in your outpost. It has most parts from all manufacturers. However it does not have any of the unique parts that you can only get at the manufacturers HQ, like the bigger bridge cockpits, larger habs, hab connectors etc.

That's a disappointment. They make it so hard to make a good ship. Every time I upgrade something it gives me errors. Add more landing gear, now your ship is too heavy, add more engines, now you have too many engines, reduce the weight... JFC it's frustrating.

Imagine the amount of time and effert these idiots had to put in to split all these ship shops apart instead of letting us have everything in one place... thats Bethesda ladies in gentlemen ?XD

I use this mod to have all pieces in one place, i already built an awsome ship using xD Keep in mind your going to need alot of credits to build a whole ship, and you cant save the design half way through either.

honestly, the ship building is pretty lackluster, with some arbitrary rules. There's many times I wanted to go for a certain look, but couldn't for one reason or another, and a lot of the parts in the game are just garbage for aesthetics, or don't even have an aesthetic match (especially when you get to max tier parts). It's very hard to make something visually acceptable while also following the rules. Every ship design basically becomes a centipede of landing gear and parts that don't visibly jive together. Other than the cowls, there's not really any parts in this game that sits flush with another or matches the shape profile of another part, so ships end up looking like junk heaps. And outside of nova galactic parts, everything else is just pure boxy-ness, so all you can really make is square or rectangular box ships.

i really like how they give you a perk so you get more money for each item sold...
Thanks Bethesda!

Instead of selling stuff then sitting on a seat and resting for a full 2 minutes while "waiting" for 48 hours to go by so the vendors money restocks i now get to do it TWICE!

Amazing game design and skill progession system.
Hey we added a stamina system, why? so we can reward you with skills to reduce the penalty tadaaaa! :steamfacepalm:

Forget flashy combat skills or spaceship maneuvers when you can get extra stuff from plants and animals and increase you scanner range by a whopping 10m. Its like they took Mass effect and decided doing the skills/abilities was just too much hassle.

I think it was kind of what they were going for, I seen ppl call it nasa punk or something, it does give a bit of real feel to the game too since its meant to be like realistic ish near future rather than star wars ;p I did mange to make a nice looking ship I think tho it was pain in the ass;p

I just wish you could take parts of a ship and bank them for other ships

Becuase that is how it would work? Your literally going to their licensed dealers or their company starship yards to buy their best parts.

That is liek going "why must I go to a licensed car dealer to get the latest models of cars, why can't I buy brand new not used things from corner store?!" Its how it works. I doubt in 300 years they change that at all, that these shipyards are gonna send their best newest gear to random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all over the universe it would cost a fortune for one, and secondly it makes way more sense they got be a licensed ship part dealer to get the new stock.

I see the other ones as "used" dealers they selling your slightly used or "renewed" parts for same price as the dealers charge for fresh off the factory floor parts lol

The weird look to the ships is on purpose. They are not going for super smooth curvy type ships although some modules do allow for that look. They are going for more the standard current day spaceship with stuff sticking out all over. Our rockets are smoother than the ships in the game but if you look at our satellites and hab modules in space they look like these do. Not aesthetically pleasing. Function over form. We are stuck with this in current tech mainly b/c of weight. You have to get the stuff to space which limits what you can do. When we start building in space, if we ever figure it out, we will have better aesthetics.

This I stole a piratw ship tiny thing to start builing a new ship later its got nice littler reactor better then my starter has I kind wish I could rip it out and store it at my outpost. Like there should be a huge storage platform for that so I can part out ships before pawning them. Take their best stuff I want keep for what ever reason then sell the rest I mean I get thing would have to be size of a cargo landing for sure, but would be a neat thing for modders or dlc to add in later.

You can scrap them. But you can't save the modules. Scrap the ship completely and rebuild a base crappy one from the parts you sold. Leave and get the money for the parts you sold. Then sell the ship.

That is because you talkign about stuff that goes into atmosphere vs sits in space. Our ships land on planets so function would dictate more smoothe bits to reduce drag on plantes with atmospheres. I don't about you but many the places I land have atmosphere even if its not breathable physics still apply. Junk in space is in a vacum. my space ship spend 2/3 of its life landing and taking off, so ugly sharp edges would just be a nightmare for anything minus a moon.

So this doen't work at all its function over form you want random punk stuff for asthetics but i nreality second you land on a planet half your bits would break off if it was looking like a space only bit. That is just basic physics. Rockets are rounded becuaese they go up and back down some of them are reusable even in real life, space junk your talking about sits in side payload modules that protect them from leaving the planet sigh.

Reason Elite and them got junk looking bits all over is they never leave space if they do they need a lander of some kind and something to ge them back up our ships do both on their own. Hence they would be rounded like a space shuttle that is sitll just a flying brick FYI
