Asking about planetary surveys and what they mean.
While most of the information is clear. I don't understand a few things that pop up.
For example: Atmosphere: STD 2. What does this mean?
Water: Biological chemical, does this mean that there are harmful things in the water?
Better yet, is there a chart that I can look at that explains all of this?

Most of it is fluff that means nothing. STD 2 means, I believe, the atmosphere is twice as thick as Earth's. This has no impact on the game. The water composition tells you what the water is made of. Unless it's toxic or freezing, this has no impact on the game.

The only thing that has a consistent impact is whether there's flora or fauna, and the temperature.

It was STD O2. That means standard oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere.
Water: Biological Chemical means (if I remember right) you'll be using a condenser to get water, not a well, because it's not suitable for simple extraction.

I think he left the 'o' out of O2. Jemison is STD 02. The water is SAFE so you can use the extractors instead of the condensers.

If the water says 'heavy metals' or 'toxic' it also means you can't safely walk through it as it will start to poison you.

This absolutely has impact on the game. The power generated by wind generators is determined by the thickness of the atmosphere. Thick atmosphere can also lower solar power generation.

what is the purpose of surveying the planets? for some Constelation mission, I spent hours landing and relanding on a planet, trying to survey it. I guess I got to about 50%, Never got it surveyed. Couldnt udnerstand why the mission was talking about doing this on multiple planets.

A fully surveyed planet gives bonuses to resource collection.

You can also sell the full survey data. I think there is a place that buys them for more than most shops.

You also get lots of experience points if you fully survey.
