stealing ships and cargo of ships question.
everytime i steal a ship,, do i have to empty it on all inventory and put it into my "own" ship? or it transfers by itself once i buy the thingy for the ship and then sell the ship?

also, is there a way to go back to "your" ship after stealing one without having to go to a junk station.

Contents of the ship moves with you if you have a new Home ship, at Ship Services you can designate another ship as your home ship and everything will transfer to it afaik.

What Tijger said but also make sure to clear out your captains locker because that stuff doesn't transfer to your new home ship.

I currently do not own the game but, am curious about the ship stealing aspect. Is there any way to regain your original ship after stealing another? Maybe purchase the cheapest ship available to fly back and reclaim your old ship. Is this possible?

when you take over a ship, you use that ship untill you change to another ship.

So, lets say I have multiple ships (a fighter and a larger cargo vesicle) in different locations.c Would I have to return to where I left my first ship to transfer 'home ship' if I wanted to swap ships?...or can I teleport back to my original ship?

In Empyrion Galactic Survival, a game I played a while back, I could dock one ship to another and fly it back to base, either to keep or salvage.

After you register the ship - then go into the ship building menu and repaint it - then every piece of equipment aboard will be put in the cargo hold.. then go to your ship in the radial menu, open the cargo hold and scoop-de-loot.

Do it at the Den space station in Wolf, or you may get scanned down - many of those ships have contraband aboard. There is a Trade Authority vendor at the Den that will happily buy said contraband.

Visit a ship tech shop or a landing pad in your post to reassign your home ship.
It will then load the home ship after exiting the vendor.

If you steal ships to sell them you need to pay attention to your cargo in your home ship. The Misc section is going to fill up with all the decorative from the old ship. Decorative junk being sent to cargo also happens every time you edit your starship.

Ok, thank you for the information. I'm just trying to understand the process of acquiring more than one ship.

It is kinda a pain in the ass to have more than one because it automatically switches the ship you are using to your home ship the moment you jump or land on a planet.

Which means all the cargo gets taken from the old home ship and put into the new home ship. Which may not sound bad, but it can mean an issue if one ship is say a freighter and the other a fighter.

This is one of those things I am waiting to see what modders can do with the system.

Yeah, I saw this as being a possible issue as well. My thinking is that I could buy/build the most basic warp capable ship (cheap) and retrieve my original vesicle if it's better that the scoot-about I build to get back to it.
If you could remove components and store them in a container, to be used on possibly a later build, that'd be great...but, I know there are certain ship parts that are difficult to find.

I'd love to be able to dismantle my VW and incorporate those parts into my next ride.

it somewhat works in the way of having more loaded than capacity shows, but of course you cannot load anything new into it unless you removed a lot of stuff - at least you don't loose anything.

in a way it is inconvenient but on the other hand it means you don't have to manage another set of cargo spaces.
