How to do Deep cover quest if you refuse
I've started this questline on a previous character so I know how it goes if you accept the offer to go under cover. I decided to refuse this time but the game doesn't give me any direction. the quest just says I've decided to find the crimson fleet on my own. I read online if you refuse Alder Kemp will still appear on demos. But he didn't. So I'm not sure if that person was lying. Every guide and information I can find online only covers the quest for if you agree to go undercover. Anyone know what what you're suppose to do?

Have you tried going to the 'The Key' directly?

I would imagine the pirates would just shoot at you, but who knows.

I have the same issue. After interrogation I shot the guard and they became hostile.
Had to flee the vigilance and then the quest says to find the crimson fleet.
When I warp to The Key I get swarmed and shot on sight.
So clueless since there is no quest marker on where to actually go and find a neutral/friendly crimson person to talk to.

There should be a way to use a command like setstage to just forcibly skip to the next quest. I've done it in other Bethesda games. But I can't find the code for the next quest.

This is the way. Rando approaches you on Cydonia.

Just a warning, OP: the pirates are all very PG and campy. There is no sex drugs and rock'n'roll to be had, they are toothless. You just end up with some money, another fleet that's blue to you, and having to get used to not killing pirates on sight.

Yeah that was it. I guess he just decided to ignore me the 20 other times I walked right past him.

i did say NO. New Quest line: SEEK OUT THE CRIMSON FLEET

Deep Cover.
After refusing to accept Commander Ikandes offer, I've decided to seek out the Crimson Fleet on my own and potentially join their ranks. (this is what the quest say )

I’ve been curious.

So when I did it, I was picked up by UC SysDef when I got nabbed for some random 16 credit bounty and accepted the mission to go undercover.

You can get it by just being on Cydonia too?

But that just takes you straight to the CF yeah?

Is it a definite then that after doing so you’ll get intercepted by UC SysDef and offered the chance to be a double agent?

What happens then if you refuse then? Do you just go to jail, pay your bounty, and go back to doing what you were doing?

Or is there a way you can play through the entire questline with the CF without having any contact with UC SysDef?

If you want to be a pirate you have to say no to Sysdef. I think it just kicked me right to the entrance of cydonia's jail. I was free to go. After that there is someone who will approach you in cydonia and that'll put you into the pirate questline. I don't think there is a way to start the questline without getting arrested.

ok. So far nobody has answered the question though. Can you still go under cover against the Crimson Fleet after you say No to UC Sysdef because I ain't gonna be extorted to do something, even if it was something I would have wanted to do anyway.

Many people have answered this question. There is an NPC right down the ramp outside of the Cydonia jail that Sysdef leaves you at. Talk to him and he connects you with CF.

What I want to know is what might I miss out on by not being a rat (besides being able to sell dirt to Ikande's partner)

My character was able to willingly join SysDef without being coerced with a fluke/fake bounty. Vanguard gave my character an invitation to SysDef.

Still after completing it with SysDef as the victors, one of the Constellation companions spoke as if my character was forced into it.

You still need to do all the breadcrumbs to the Legacy anyway. You miss out on crummy SysDef clothes and ship parts.
