Why is the music in Starfield so boring?
Are there any replacement mods?

Inon Zur is a master. I was a bit surprised it wasn't more evocative but then I thought more about it and believe goes with the space-theme and ability to write your own journey.

this! the soundtrack is always on point.

The only bit of music that made any impact on me in some way was during a spoiler-heavy part of the game; the rest i can't even remember as i'm typing this.

But i still remember Jeremy Soule's Morrowind and Skyrim music and it's on repeat in my head most of the time.

I recommend Civilization Beyond Earth OST. While the game was kind of ok, Beyond Earth has one of the very best space exploration/settlement soundtracks of any game.

If someone made a soundtrack replacer using it, I would download it immediately.
Dude, i really appreciate that recommandation.
Thank you so much. Geoff Knorr, i know that name from somewhere..

Look up Jeremy Soule.

He did the OST from Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim

He has tons of OSTs to play in the background

The music is good. Has a nice Jerry Goldsmith vibe to it. His music is soo underappreciated.

Inon Zur messed up though when all the combat tracks are boring in starfield.
When you are in combat, you shouldn't feel "bored". It's not even the gameplays fault, it's 100% on the soundtrack.

There's music in this? *checks Settings. Yup. Set to 100% volume.
Huh. The only music I hear is the overblown decibels of the combat music and the occasional sting from the message prompts.

The fact that I can't recall a single bit of the supposedly brilliant soundtrack means it is either;
a.) Perfect soundtrack music that doesn't detract or distract from the story or visuals in any way or,
b.) Completely forgettable "nothing music" like one hears in elevators or old cartoons.

Now that I'm thinking about it, several characters in the first few moments talk about the visions from the artifact and it "playing music." Can't remember any music in that either.

I need to check, but is this game Atmos capable? Maybe I'm missing entire channels of sound or something...
Totally agree,- i also did not heard any music excpet battle, and i think my menu.

Wait, so all those times in Starfield where I've emptied an entire magazine into a pirate that uses at least 3 seconds just to go through his "slowly get up from chair"-animation....all that was due to the boring background music?!

I'm shocked! :dos2skull:

Ok, i admit the ai is really bad, but if we had a good combat track to pair it with, it wouldn't be that bad.

.. i never understand those players who don't know how to use winamp to play their own music.
don't rely on in-game music. only game i can think of where in-game music is good, is GTA 3+ series. in shooter and exploration games i always disable music, because it's either distracting or annoying. for example in shooters you won't be able to hear footsteps or other enemy noises, which leaves you vulnerable.

if i want music, i press the "play" button on my hotkey keyboard. i can play online radios or my own music (got about 20gb of music), i can swap between radios and tracks using hotkeys. really simple. no need to minimize or anything. you can also make suitable playlists for certain games. if you play some exploration game and want some relax soundtracks, then make a playlist with certain tracks.

also devs have to think about copyright issues, they can't just put any music into game. they either have to get a license or make their own, this is not easy process. music licenses can cost a lot for commercial companies. i imagine GTA devs have put huge amount of money into licensed music. same reason why GTA doesn't have licensed cars, because it would cost them millions to get license to use them .. same for other brands aswell (like coca-cola ..etc, that's why they use their own names).

Its a rehash of alot of FO4 themes and Skyrim themes which in Skyrim also reused quite a bit of Morrowind music.

Really surprised they'd do that much reusing.

I’m very confused why they didn’t include a radio ala the one in Fallout. Would have been a perfect way to point the player at some of the more interesting quests, as well as giving us better options for music.

Because Bethesda alienated the only good composer that's ever worked for them.

They didn't alienate Jeremy Soule. A selfish evil woman came out and lied saying he r&&ed her. Jeremy Soule was immediately fired from Elder Scrolls 6 after that.

That pretty much describes one way of alienating someone. Pulling the rug out from under them without any due process.

its bad because like the entire game they half-assed it and were super lazy, its just another area where you can see that in.

well sounds like nobody appreciates Classical Orchestral music anymore. The London Symphoni Orchestra did the original Skyrim music. Back 50 years ago the Orchestra was known as the London Festival Orchestra and recorded Tuesday Morning with the Moody Blues and the album Nights In White Satin. The Prague Symphony Orchestra also did the music for Deus Ex and The Witcher 2 and 3. I have both Cd soundtracks for The Witcher.
