The game crashed.
I decided to reboot the game, I have no technical expertise but I was thinking maybe of a memory leak and was thinking reboot might help.
Now, I think it happened just before the reboot, windows dropped a warning *blablabla* > verify that your CPU is correctly attached.
Like.
''Verify that your CPU is correctly attached.''
I've never ever seen windows drop that kind of message.
Holy damn, was I scared XD
um... if your cpu wasnt correctly attached (lol wut), you wouldnt even be able to load windows let alone play games...
as a side, for anyone coming here with this issue, you can increase your virtual memory manually via searching windows for "Performance" , open the Adjust the Appearance and Performance of Windows and go to the Advanced tab, and change the virtual memory. I changed mine from 5 GB (crashing a lot in Starfield) to 60 GB, and it seems to be fine for now.
it might be because of the intel a770, which despite the drivers is still misbehaving occasionally.
just a guess, as there are so many variables.
The system its self is brand new actually, no issues with other games. Your vram setting unless you changed it manually is likely set to System Managed, which means it will scale the size itself.
I might try that too actually.
Timing. I mean it shouldn't be an issue today. But I've bought a pair of ram from a manufacturer that had a timing defect in one of the sticks. I'd blue screen constantly playing RenegadeX but ONLY RenegadeX.
Theres diagnostic software like memtest you can boot into, i highly recommend doing so.
Might want to change your virtual memory setting to "Windows managed." Ignore anyone who says to manually set the size of your virtual memory.
memory leak is my guess. You're not the first person to have this problem. Other have mentioned that their ram are filled up over time.
Stop using nvidia filters Alt +F3 ,, I had it set on details and sharpen.
Somehow its causing memory leak. would build up over time and crash
Turned off game filters and it fixed it immediately. Thank you. Please, take some points.
Im very happy I helped at least one person , it was driving me crazy also
In same boat as everyone else. Just posting Todd's advise.
I know I'm ressurrecting the dead here, but this goes triple for any newer version of windows. As SOON as a set it to manual, with nearly triple the max, windows still fails to free up the virt mem appropriately and kills anything that moves a lot of data with a "Whoops, ♥♥♥♥ you. Oh, its ok now that your app is dead." Like clockwork. If more than 50% of windows is running correctly, you best get ready for the fresh hell that's going to rain down on your nuts the next time you're doing ANYTHING remotely entertaining.
Anyway Windows 11 has 37GB of virtual ram too and yes Starfield will overload all GPUs, it just doesn't matter what GPU are using either.
Yeah no that an issue with bad cooling Cannot blame a game for your system having inadequate cooling causing it to overheat when tasked.
My CPU temps never go about 55c and my GPU (which is an AMD btw) does not go about 70c on the hotspot. And that is with only air cooling, no water loops or rad systems.
This is not an attack on you. Its merely a statement of facts. You should be using manual fan profiles on your graphics card, and making sure you have good airflow around your case.
