Maps reset...??

I dumped 800k worth of contraband on a planet because I lacked the perk or whatever and couldnt bring it back yet. I went back to the planet now (I know its the same one, wrote it down..) and nothing is explored - the location I previously went to doesnt even exist? Wtf?

They don't reset like you are saying no. Either you ran into a glitch or you landed on the wrong planet somehow.

"Random points you have landed at" are not saved as future waypoints, are they? They may or may not be persistent, but I don't see how you could find the exact same spot unless you put down an outpost.

I had once the effect that a starship yard(fixed location) vanished. Going by something I read , I jumped in and out of the system and then it was back.

Could be a similar glitch in your case.

They are actually. I don't know how many, but you can return to past landing points if you want to. No I don't recommend leaving a pile of stuff there because I don't know if the map is just re-generated or if the game saves the map-state. There is probably a limit on how many it will save as well.

Hah, funny how I never even noticed. I've fully surveyed a few planets and didn't even notice that my previous landing spots show as waypoints. That's good to know, so thank you for answering.

They definitely reset for me. I also dumped contraband in a very specific spot, wrote down details, took screenshots, etc.

Went back to the exact planet, the waypoint isn't mapped, so I walk out to the "unexplored" waypoint now, it's the exact same location, but it reset and all my contraband is gone.

What a waste.

Game stored FOUR points. Make a fifth and the first gets deleted. I would assume this is TOTAL, not per planet, or the game would get Awfully much larger as you sink hundreds of hours into all kinds of planets.

sadly only ones ship hold - or the storage lockers at the lodge seem safe so far.

everything else seems to risk wipe - when you revisit, alter, change, leave..
if you want to keep stuff - ship hold or storage in lodge are the only safe bets. (at least ive not* seen anyone mention losing stuff at the lodge.. but with all the BS being posted - one can never be 100% sure.

So far i have had luck with using temp storage in some outside chests at the mining station at Vectera (were you start the game). So my best guess is any fixed POI will hold stuff. You can also build an outpost and store it there.

Did around the forums enough and you'll find people complaining about storage chests they placed on outposts randomly turning up empty.

You can take contraband to the Den in Wolf system without being scanned.

You're right actually, took me way too long to understand that Volii Epsilon and Volii Upsilon werent the same place lol.
