But Starfield has potential as the Framework.
CP2077 has only brought out vehicular combat after 1y+ post-launch.
Starfield has this and vehicular modding too.
Nothing beats cyberpunk though. Haven't played a game I liked as much since it came out.
FF16 was a similar experience if you don't mind medieval fantasy setting. Less open world but the boss fights are a truly unique cinematic experience.
The lack of melee weapon variety doesn't help, either. New Vegas had a vastly superior selection of melee than Starfield. It's all just mundane weapons here; no powerfist, no ripper sword, no shiskebab. Just swords, hatchets, knives, and like one unique looking weapon. Pretty wild for a sci-fi setting to have such a boring selection.
When Ultima VI came out in 1992, NPCs had a daytime cycle, the slept at homes, went to work, made a break, worked, closed the shop went home, chilled for a while and went to sleep after night felt. And I thought "wow, THAT's the future of gaming".
Fast forward over 30 years later, we're back to the roots were a AAA game has mindless drones just walking or staying around , spawning and despawning for the player to see or work 24/7 each week without eating or taking a piss.
It's sad.
Can't wait for 2.0 Patch and Phantom Liberty.
I haven't played it. But now maybe I will.
You know they're not real right?
Starfield's story is so bad I'd rather they just deleted the main quest and turned this into a purely sandbox roguelike game.
