Does anyone know if we can "level-up" guns?
Wondering if I should keep some of the early game Legendary guns I got, or just get rid of them. One of them as a bunch of really good effects on it, so I'd like to keep it around if there's a way to get it on par with later level guns.

Because it's definitely not simply different receivers like Fallout 4. Seems directly tied to level.

Both yes and no. The base stats remain and will not get better, so finding a better base gun of the same type you’ll usually just replace the original.

But you can add modifications that will improve the weapon in a variety of ways. You need to unlock research and put points into weapon mods to unlock the better modification options

You can level up weapon damage and specific weapon type damage in the skill tree, which I assume stack increased damage say if you increase ballistic weapon damage on top of base weapon damage perk.

Damn, that sucks. Kinda wish they kept the Fallout 4 system, instead of having the base guns scale.

Weapons don't have levels. AFAIK a Grendel you find at level 1 will do the same damage at level 500. The only difference is the mods equipped on it that can effect its stats

but at higher levels, you have a much higher chance for a higher tier of the same gun to show up, note, I said higher tier, not higher rarity, so sure your current rattler might be a legendary, but it's a tier one rattler, and that tier 4 rattler (now called a advanced rattler), sure isn't a legendary so it doesn't have the same modifiers, but it still hits way harder because it's a 'higher tier' which only shows up at higher levels.
