We MISSED the obvious! Where is Eris? Sedna? The rest of the Solar system?
Mired with performance and pronoun discussions, we seem to have missed the obvious! The "Solar system" in Starfield is as dated as that in Star Control II, from 30 years ago. Where are all the new planets and planetary objects in the Solar system? Some are quite large and would have made an excellent addition.

I find it baffling to read on each launch of the game how we have "NASA" images, but half of the Solar system is missing.

This. Thank you. Big missed opportunity to educate people about the star system they live in!

Good point. They included that tiny little dwarf planet Pluto and excluded other planetoids.

I looked those two up, and they are three times farther from the sun than Pluto. Seeing as how our solar system already has 9 planets and several moons, they didn't really need to add two more that were so far away you can't even see the sun.
look up Sednas orbit - 78 to 988 AU for a rock that is around 1000km in diameter and its still a guess
having all the moons and other bodys in the game is too much - Haumea Makemake etc etc etc endless list. a game is probably not the right thing to learn it.

Pluto & Charon is a bit special. i think thats why those two are in

This.
Not to mention all the Klingons on Uranus. Sorry, could not resist.

I'm sure someone is going to revamp the solar system with the mody system when it ships sometime in 2024.

Oort cloud, extra solar asteroids, comets, Planet X (that's no moon...it's dwarf planet). Planetary Systems around brown dwarfs, black holes, neutron stars, nebulae.

Maybe a treasure planet from Starcontrol 2....but then I'll probably want a ship powered by crew members. "Oh Barrett, where's Barrett? I need more engine power"

Other planets and stellar bodies in our solar system

No, we have 8 planets and that's a fact. If distance from the sun is your personal judge of if a dwarf planet should be included you must explain why Ceres isn't or you must exclude Pluto.

A) yo can see sun from Pluto and them, it's a very bright star on sky. There are also two planets much closer that Jupiter. Eris is bigger than Pluto.. and they had systems which had 40+ bodies, s it's not atechnical limitation.

BGS left out the Ort Cloud? Such a missed opportunity to educate the masses with their non-educational, non-scientific game about spaceships and space magic :steamfacepalm:
And all the moons around Jupiter and Saturn are already almost 250 plus the moons around all the other planets, the Trans-Neptune objects, man, what they forgot, ooooowweeee :)

Anyone who complains about that... you can only shake your head... :steamfacepalm:

lol... NASA wouldn't know an "astronomical fact" if it bit them in the booster...:-)
