is there no research station on some ships?

im trying to find the reasearch station on the star eagle but i can't find it
i've looked around for like 10 minutes
if i have to swap ships just to be able to get upgrades that's gunna be really annoying

Can you add the module to the ship inside ship builder? I remember a guy having purchased or stolen a ship without a bed. I think it's the mid sized general purpose one having both a bed, a star map and the research station.

Yes, some ships don't have the research station. It has to do with the modules (habs) that they are made of.

There are workbenches / research benches in the lodge. Directly turn to your right before the stairs. You should find a basement there containing all kinds of neet stuff.

To answer your question: no not every ship has one, it all depends on the hub modules the ship has

You can't (right now) add things inside the habs. Which is very uncomfortable. Only choose already existing habs with existing furniture.

You need a ship with a science lab or infirmary to have a research station onboard. Alternately there is a research station in the Lodge basement that is easy to fast travel to, or you can build one at your own outpost(s).
