crew skills for crafting?
the crew skill info is very lacking. it will tell me what the name of the skill is but it dosnt tell me what that skill gives me for assigning the crew member. i see sarah is an astrodynamic specialist for example but i cant find that skill info for the life of me. the icon looks like the piloting one but idk.
does anyone know of any crew skills that will allow me to craft/upgrade my ship ect so i dont have to waste like 15 levels JUST on skills related to crafting? im a bit annoyed about the skill wall here.i just want to add a silencer to a weapon...you literally buy those and screw them on the barrel after you remove the muzzel so i dont know why i need to be a level 2 gunsmith for that.

As far as I know, crew skills are only in effect when they are assigned to a station (such as ship/outpost), or if they are your active companion. However, none of these skills are crafting skills. You'll need to unlock those in your skill tree, which makes sense as you'll be the one crafting/shopping. (note: if the skill is active when you assign them, it will be lit up)
As for the Astrodynamic skill, it's in the top row i believe, and it grants fuel efficiency/distance for your warp jumps.

kind of sucks i cant build ships AND outpost AND weapons without having to be about level 65+ and thats assuming i ignore all combat skills. ive never been able to play a bethesda game as one character beyond level 60 before getting bored. :(

What are crew skills i should look for for my outposts and ship that will allow me to ignore any essential skills myself?

I'm not sure how far you are into the game, but Vasco/Sarah have very useful ship skills that save you quite a few skill points right away.
The way Starfield seems to be set up in how skills work/unlock/and upgrade is that you really just want to focus 1 or 2 trees that you find most valuable to how you want to play the game. For me, it was the Science and Ship trees. I did put two points into carry weight as well (because i'm a hoarder in these games), but everything else is in those two trees so far.

Kinda sounds like Bethesda games aren't for you. Really just gota figure out your play style and work towards that first. I'm lvl 44 and do not have a single point in combat skills.

As far as skills from companions, there are only certain number of companions that you can get so I would suggest goggling them and seeing what skills they come with. I'm not sure if you can completely ignore the skill tree for them but I guess it depends on what you want. You need outpost building and Zoology/botany skills to create the animal pins and the nursery's.

If weapon/armor modding is your priority, you get that at the 2nd tier of Science, and Outpost research is right after it. If you go directly into working down the Ship tree next, you can start to unlock advanced ship parts roughly around level 22 or so.

I hope someone eventually comes up with a deep dive guide on the master level benefits.
like what are the unique manufacturing items and unique research and which one is better ect and is animal husbandry really worth investing 4 points into or are there other ways to get those items?
