Trying to enter a ship that I found landed on a planet

Hi, so I landed on Tau Ceti II for my first vanguard mission and next to my ship there is another landed ship with the cargo door open, sadly when I enter the ship and approach the stairs to click that I want to enter the ship, I have no option to do so, I am inside the cargo of the ship (similar to the starter ship) but I cannot interact with the ladder to go up in the ship. Why is that? I thought I can steal any parked ship?

I think it is only manned ships, as in a ship lands, npcs exit, you rush up and enter the ship, murder the crew in the cockpit and take off.

That is atleast how I made off with a merc ship after it landed.

You have to fast travel into it like everywhere else in the game. It requires three loading screens to successfully enter.

I know that lol, I just don't have the option to do it, on our starter ship once you approach the ladder you can press a button to enter the ship but on this landed ship once I approach the ladder, no button appears, I can't press anything to enter the ship...

I think some ships are not meant to be taken. They will give a message about not having permission when you try to enter the pilot seat of a friendly random encounter. The ones that do work is hostile encounters. Upon entering their ship you get a quest objective to either kill the crew or leave. And after killing everybody to either sit in the pilot seat or leave.

there are a few reasons why you can't fly a certain ship.
- it can be by design but usually you won't be able to board them.
- piloting skill is too low. the msg that pops-up is something about authorization so you might not realize it
- npc that owns the ship is still alive

been able to make it off planet with a few ships that chose to land in areas I visited :-)
didn't encounter anything really good so far but it's fun

Guys, my problem is not that I am unable to interact with the pilot seat, I am unable to interact with the SHIP at all, I can't even enter the ship to see the interior, is this intended?

Did you see the ship land? If the landing ramp is not down it might be a background object. And if instead you can go as far as the door but it doesn't show enter or a lock, then it might be bugged?

edit: Nevermind you already said you were inside. I dunno maybe the ladder is bugged.
edit two: Are you perhaps trying to access the wrong ladder? There are two types: Normal ones to move within the ships, and one that leads to the docking station and can only be used while docked onto something.

I am below in the cargo area (similar to the starter ship) and there is only one single ladder heading up (probably in the interior of the ship) but I can't click any buttons to actually interact with it, this was during the mission where I killed the first Terramorph, I did not see the ship land, I just selected to land at that mission location and that ship was already landed close to me, maybe the ship was part of the mission and the facility and that's why I could not enter inside?

theirs a ship on kreet in the north you can take

There are several static ships that are part of the POI bases that look like something you would be able to fly but unfortunately cannot.

You can tell these from actual ships because all the engines are dead. Real ships when landed still have glowing thrusters.
