And you have to play questlines to learn what exactly caused Earth to lose its atmo
Totally scientifically accurate and possible lmao.
i am ingame right now and it is stated clearly that earth is:
type rock
1 g gravitation
temperature COLD
atmos thinn co2
magno none
fauna none
flora none
water definitaly
take it for what it is...
Scientist say earth is actually going to look like this in real life too in about a billion yaers ;p
It lost its electromagnetic field, not gravity. No body in the universe can "lose its gravity"
The Atmosphere gives us weather, temperature and protection. Even though it is just air it does form a barrier. Asteroids and other space debris will fully or partially burn up, can break up in smaller parts and due to the resistance will loose some kinetic energy due to being slowed down as well. Another thing most people don't think about much is how fragile our infrastructure truly is. There are some building that are old. Massive structures built of stone like the pyramids are still standing but not in their former glory. Most buildings are rather young by comparison, a century maybe, and they are still standing because of maintenance. Once the maintenance stops, the buildings will deteriorate fast. So even if the atmosphere is not completely gone (As mentioned above thin CO2) It will expose the planet to bombardment and with no maintenance most modern buildings would collapse within a century. To me is it more striking that there would still be landmarks left to visit other than perhaps something like hoover dam ruins.
There is lore in the game that explains everything. Check out some of the museums which span the systems. Earths history from the leap in space tech which allowed the expanse of humanity is covered up to present game year.
Sadly a lot of people get stuck in a linear mindset just playing it as a shooter, click through dialogue or bee lining the main mission/quest lines. Need to talk to NPC'S, look around, ask questions. User error.
***OH and its an RPG not a SIMULATOR as the game is LABELLED. I cant believe I have to keep repeating this. I play a LOT of simulation games, probably my most played. Flying through an atmosphere would be cool looking but it isnt needed being a RPG.
Bethesda doesn't have time to focus all their efforts on 1 planet so they did they best they could and it's exactly what I expected, a barren planet with a few landmarks.
Elite Dangerous didn't even try and put up an invisible box around Earth in their game, and every other space game like NMS, Eve, Star Citizen wont even include the Sol system which is a real disappointment.
Here's a representation for those confused. Solar winds are scary!
