How can I play with a 1060 graphics card?
Hello everyone!
I have installed the game even knowing that I do not meet the minimum requirements but thinking that once inside the game menu I could lower the requirements and play with my 1060. The thing is that the game does not start and I get an error message: my graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements.
Can anyone help me and tell me if it is possible to solve this problem?
Thanks

Regarding that message you'll need the actual version of windows 10. Look for updates, if you still have Win 7, no clue if it even would run.

Also download nvidia driver, the game ready one, that already mentions Starfield to be supported.

If you make it in the game set preset to low and then you HAVE TO increase Indirect Lightning to MED. Otherwise outsides everything is very blurry. FSR has to be on and on 50% resolution but that all is already the case for low preset. Sharpening to 80-100 is my suggestion with the preset 50% Res scale and 1080p.

Look how the framerate performs, likely bad in the first city, before maybe at 40 fps. Not much more to be expected. To get your GPU a bit breathing room you could cap framerate in nvidia control panel to maybe 45, so that indoors or in menus it doesn't max for no reason.

Thanks again!

You do not meet the minimum requirement to play the game with a 1060. Don't waste your time and refund it immediately. No mod will fix this.

You can't.

Why can't you? I had the game running on an RX 570 4GB which is like 20% slower, and yeah its pretty choppy even on low but it did run. I was seeing ~27fps on 1080p low, but I didn't bother optimizing with ini files or anything I just wanted to see if it would run.

My Radeon 6600 works at 96% to get this game looking good. My gfs 1050 ti makes the game look like a disco drawn in paint.

If you manage to get it to work, would you enjoy playing the game at low with 20fps?

i5-7600k and a 1060 6gb and I can play. So far performance is ight, definitely not 60 fps. Wort thing is the game likes to freeze quite a bit. Hopefully they'll optimize it and that'll go away. Med settings, 30 fps, smooth with dynamic res.

Your best bet is to refund it, or wait until you get around to doing an upgrade. However, you might be able to tweak some of the preset .ini files to make it run better. Emphasis on the might of the previous sentence, it is absolutely no guarantee. You could also look for mods that reduce the texture size, but again you probably wont get a good experience.

Here's the neat part, you don't. *looks at wallet*

I think the problem is that 3GB of VRAM are to little. I mean I have 62% render res @1080p and play on a 1660 ti 6GB. It sits around 4.5-5GB VRAM with few settings to med but demanding ones as Vol LIght to low.

On the other hand it seems that (some?) nvdia GPUs don't perform as they could. MIne is during 100% usage 10 degrees colder than expected. Not sure if it stays that way or a patch drops. Somehow I doubt that the wheel was reinvented and GPU usage works entirely different now. Of course CPU isn't the bottleneck in that case.

As for mods I don't use them but there are some already incl performance related. Maybe even a DLSS upscaling method. Search there or maybe directly here in forum.

You can play with your imagination.

BGS is not looking into optimization because the game is optimized for PC, just get a 4090
