You can level up PILOTING skill in the simulator!

So I went back to the simulator to see if beating the last phase got you a reward but kept dying, when I left I noticed that the ship kills in the sim are actually counted as real ship kills in your skills tree. Totally worth doing as you risk nothing.

Yeah get 4 skill points before you go in and you can max your piloting skill fast.

Rush through the needed quests, simulator your way to pilot lvl 4 , get the Kepler R at level 10 also getting its high level modules long before you can buy those...

Probably the only realistic way to finish last wave is to reduce difficulty...
There was also a locked option at the debug terminal that I couldn't access because I didn't have the required Security skill when I did the mission. No clue what it does but maybe that's the key to properly defeating wave 6.
