No scanner distortions. Any help out there?

I am doing into the unknown quest.
Landed on the planet, get a pop up saying to follow the scanner distortions.
I am not seeing any scanner distortions.
I’ve looked at YouTube vids, so I know what to look for.
I’ve tried going back to orbit and landing again.
I’ve tried landing at the scanner anomaly, the civilian outpost and the landing area.
Still no distortions.

The circle of your scanner will break up just try turning slowly in a circle and it will happen....I made the same mistake

To be more specific, the circle on the scanner will oscillate with red/blue colours when pointing in the right direction. Unless OP ran into a bug, the best way to do those quests fast is to land and immediately spin around until the scanner's UI circle begins to change colours.

Definitely not obvious though, agreed :). I was expecting full-screen visual distortions or a POI, but it doesn't work that way :).

It doesn’t give you a path. It makes a distortion sound and starts fluctuating like it’s broken or interference.

Dunno why the scanner wouldn't be working for you, but honestly, the thing isn't hard to locate visually.

The circle around the edge of the scanner will break up slightly when you face the correct direction. It'll be hard to keep the edge distorted the further away you are.

Same. Been waiting for a fix to this for days now, just doing other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ side quests. Would really like to progress the main story. Searched 87% if the entire planet, there is no Temple, there are no distortions. The game is bugged and we are far from the only ones suffering from it. Would be nice to get a fix soon considering it's a fairly early mission...

Might be a bug, but be sure to land only at the scanner anomaly, it won't work anywhere else on the planet.

If you know what type of building you're looking for it might be easier to go there directly, it shouldn't be that far from the landing

It doesn’t seem that the temple appears unless you get the distortions.

I am really amazed by the idiotic and/or fanboy-ish replies this thread has received.

The game keeps bugging for me during main quests since the first Power quest. After that it totally broke during the Neon heist mission (calling it vaguely because, spoilers) and nothing I ever did was able to fix it, almost debugged the game for 4 hours using the console. I lost like 5 hours of progress, somehow repeated the first power quest without bugs, now it bugs again on the second power. Gonna give it another try by reloading and probably try a refund afterwards.

Now this OP clearly stated that he tried everything and watched the videos, still the indicator does not even blink. Then amazingly more than half of the replies try to picture what the distortion looks like, suggesting that it was the OP who failed to understand the mechanic of it, instead of it being a bug. Hilarious. People either don't read a letter except for the title or claim that the game is so magnificent that this can't be a bug.

TLDR; dear OP, I have the same bug and you're right. Also console commands do not entirely work out the problem except for the first power, because after that there are no ceremonies, so even if you complete the quest, you don't receive the power itself. Maybe that can be obtained by another console command as well, but it looks like an avalanche of bugs once a main quest gets broken. You get another bug somewhere down the road, almost guaranteed.

So if you figured out a way so far, please let us know.

exactly it. im still searching around to find out what the issue might be and it's all the same glossing over stuff. i managed to get the first story power just fine, know what the distortions look like and everything. i even FOUND one of the temples, did everything to get the power, and not only did the quest not complete, but i didnt get the power either. probably not helpful, but maybe the additional info can help pin the bug.

If you ever tried helping people with tech problems you would understand. It's usually something like "you aren't on the right planet," etc.

Things like "are you sure your computer is plugged in?" And after 15 minutes they check and it isn't.
