It does combat right with fast paced placement and skill use, but everything else is meh. Loot sucks and is forgettable (mortal sin for an ARPG). The skill trees are simplistic. World bosses and events are 'simply show up and you win'; zero challenge. Endgame has like 12 dungeons.
The jury's out on Starfield.
IF you known ,, you have to farm gear for long periods ,, and you understand what is endgame .. as someone with level 100 on both Season and Non-Season i can say .. Diablo 4 for casuals is a bad game ,, and i don't recommended
D4 = Bad
D4 gear progression : get something like X damage, 20% dmg to close enemies - get something like X+1 damage, 30% dmg to distant enemies, rinse and repeat. Yes I know they have more stats...
I've farmed thousands and thousands of hours in D2. High Runes, great white socketed bases, uniques and sets, keys for uber, gold find barb horking corpses at Trav for 150,000 each to gamble, and more. This is fun; why I've run Pindle 10,000 times.
I have all the horses and cosmetics that drop for them in D4. The only thing left to farm for is a piece of gear with 10% more vulnerable damage? How is that remotely fun?
I feel like this is a much more compelling question than the Starfield v Diablo 4 one. I think I would go with poop flavored curry. Sure, it would taste bad, but I wouldn't actually be eating poop.
I recognize the words you are using, but I can't make sense of what they mean jumbled together as they are.
Starfield, at least so far.
Diablo 4 immediately put me off with the whole battle-pass and live service BS that every multiplayer game with more than 2 stats needs to be now. Not to mention the company... But I've never actually played it myself, so it could be the best 100GB+ Live ARPG out there and I would never know.
Starfield is just a decent space RPG, nothing overly extraordinary, but very pretty with decent storytelling (again, so far). Most of the combat and looting seems to be copied straight out of Fallout 4, which some people might see as lazy development work, I see it as improving on features that their fans are already familiar with, and as a plus.
The menus get pretty annoying after a while, but it's more navigable on KB+M than FO4 was imo. And all the issues people have with the base game mechanics can, and will, be fixed with mods.

Buy Starfield then download Path of Exile. POE is free and will scratch your aRPG itch while you still get to enjoy Starfield
