Todd Howard is a silly guy. "you might need to upgrade your PC"
Today on Bloomsberg Technology, The audience asked Todd Howard "why isn't Starfield optimized for the PC. The silly guy that Todd Howard is says this - "uuhh we did, its running great, It is a next gen pc game. We really do push the technology so you may need to upgrade your pc for this game but it's got a lot of great stuff going on in it and the fans are responding awesome." I can't believe he had the audacity to say this when the 3000 series cards are barely hitting 60fps on all resolutions and the 4000 cards can't get above 90-100fps. This probably means no patch or optimization any time soon bc you know, it runs soooo well.

Here is the clip of him saying this: https://twitter.com/tomwarren/status/1699703814209548630?s=19

after seeing these comments It's insane to me that people cannot grasp the idea that just bc it runs great on your rig doesn't mean its running well for every one else. Like its really not that hard to understand and then you guys will also sit there and defend Bethesda for releasing a poorly optimized game that took 8+ years to make. like i truly don't get it man.

He's a genius. He got millions of fools like me to spend $75 on a steaming pile of turd that would have been bad even in 2005.

It's literally not keep coping tho
It's running adequately on a machine with a four year old CPU/memory and a nearly three year old GPU. No need to cope on my end as the game plays great.
Actually agree with this. It runs nice on my PC with a 2070 Super. My problem is that the game is garbage and I hated every minute of the 12 hours I played before uninstalling it.

That is different then the game not running well. That is more of a personal decision. I'm sorry it wasn't something enjoyable for you.

Todd Howard still sleeps in a race car bed.

Sounds like you guys need to upgrade.

Why is no one willing to wait for Nvidia drivers before declaring it's ♥♥♥♥? I am on a 30- series card and have played fine at 100% render for 30+ hours. I just am not obsessed with using ultra on every setting and I am old enough to know every Bethesda launch starts like this.

It sucks for the 2060, 1080 and needs a killer CPU. If you're on tech thats pre 2020, i'd just use mods that improve performance, lock frames and be more annoyed with Nvidia.

Cause the game is crap bro. Its procedurally generated no plot crap. A Cray 5000 could save this hot mess.

"But the keyboards have 3 million polys each, what do you mean the graphics aren't good?"

My setup
RTX 4080
i7 13700KF
32GB DDR4 3600mhz
NVME GEN4 1TB

50fps in Akila city and 55fps in New Atlantis
Using FSR 2.0 > 75%
Using DLSS 3.0 (via Patreon PureDark) > 80FPS

And there are people who think this is normal, the world is really full of ignorant people, learn to value money! everyone who bought this game is being scammed, the game is poorly optimized and Todd is a giant liar.

I just think the 8th is a bit early and Callisto, CP2077 and many titles had worse issues. We have an AMD sponsered title and most of us use nvidia. We have no driver update and the game has not been patched since release. I don't think needing a 3070 or better is acceptable, but it's the reality for now.

+ let the patches role out and like some orther guy said with for drivers + get some mods + lower your settings.. (if you play the game that is)

My 4090 runs it literally perfectly on max graphics

That's good that it runs for you but most people don't have 4090s. We shouldn't need top of the line GPU that cost $1600 to play a game.
Runs on Ultra on my 2070Super

And what are your 1% lows which imo are a great indicator of how well optimized a game is. Also what DLSS settings and resolution are you running?

But back to the topic at hand

I'm running

Ryzen 9 7900
32GB DDR5 RAM (6000Mhz as recommended by AMD)
Radeon 7900XT
Running on a fresh nvme 2TB SSD

And I'm lucky if my framerate with FSR turned on consistently stays above 60 in Akila city at 1440p. I've been running frame monitoring software and have had 1% lows in the single digits (granted mostly in loading screens so I can give that a pass) but turning a corner in Akila, saw my framerate dip to 14fps for about a split second, which is not good. We don't care about high framerate, if this game can ONLY hit 60fps, fine, but if I'm hitting 60fps and getting dips down to 20, there is a MASSIVE problem. Your 1% lows should be within five to ten frames of your average FPS for a consistent and fluid feeling

If you think that's "acceptable" when I can run Fallout 4 modded to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gills with a stable framerate never going below 70 at the same settings? Yeah...get a headcheck
