Starfield gets a 4.7 user score on metacritic

Thoughts?
Personally i think its a bit harsh. 5-6 would have been alright.

It's been live for less than an hour. Check back in 48 hours to see where it lands. I would guess it'll recover to 6-7 over time. The game's been bouncing between 3.5-3.6 stars out of 5 on XBOX store all day and that's where the majority of the playerbase is due to Gamepass.

Metacritic user reviews are useless. Anyone can leave a review no matter whether they played the game or not. Also people will just give games a 0/10 score for the silliest reasons.

With metacritic, negative reviews generally outweigh positive on games where people have mixed feelings, as the people who like the game are generally just playing the game

I'm noticing a trend (and it's similar here on Steam) where the negative reviews all talk about exactly what parts of the game they don't like. Specific examples, often quite detailed. But the positive reviews just say generic things, there's zero examples of what specifically makes it so good.

Definitely a lot of fake reviews going on IMO.
on metacritics you don't have to own the game... nobody requires proof you playd the game.
all the haters are there reviewing it not...
that's why you only see 10 an 0/1 . pasionate people review it. more balanced reviews will come later.
personally i this this game deserves a 7 or 8.
and probably with time the metacritics ratings will go up. but in a month or more

Metacritic user scores are often review bombed. Look at The Last of Us Part 2.

Sounds a tad high.

True, all these 10/10 are pretty suspicious.

I don't think "positive nitpicking" is a thing.

Negative reviews will tend to want a laundry list of things to hate, while people enjoy the game simply do

lol if it had good metacritic score people would be pointing it out saying "look - great score!"
