The best way to play Starfield
After 50+ hours in, I think I discover the best way to play Starfield.

- Completely ignore the main story and Constellation NPCs and dialogues
- Don't regruit Contellation NPCs for companions
- Start a new game, and as soon as you can just play sandbox
- Do side missions, side quests, Outpost building, trading etc.
- Do those little space missions, spaceship fighting
- Don't use automatic landing, instead take off manually for random encounters in space
- Scan planets, flora, fauna...
- Put workbenches in your main Outpost and mod your weapons and spacesuits
- Visit various planets and major cities, explore, take screenshots
- Make custom spaceships if you want
- Make or buy a spaceship with at least 3k cargo capacity
- Play on Hard or Very Hard difficulty

And that's it. I think it's the best way to squeeze a little bit of playworthy content from Starfield. At least for me.

Because I've found the main story and Constellation faction to be disappointing and annoying. Writing and Constellation NPCs are so bad that it killed every immersion for me.

I will start a new character and just forget that Constellation even exist.

Yup, as soon as the COnstellation lady said go look around/explore, thats exactly what I did, I went and did a ton of side quests and faction quests. Finally came back to do some main campaign missions after 20 hours haha.

There are some seriously awesome side quests, activities and faction quests.

Can't wait for alternate start mods. I don't mind Constellation as an optional faction. But not for all characters I plan to make. But alas, visiting The Lodge is a must in vanilla Starfield.

As an aside, hate that The Frontier isn't sellable. Wasting a precious ships slots ain't fun.

this is how i've played every bethesda game since daggerfall - never finished a single one lol :spacebooze:

You just described my entire playthrough, word for word.

I haven't done a single Lodge quest.

You only need to show up there to unlock the freedom to travel on your own.

Unfortunately, I started with the main quest line first, and it almost completely killed my enthusiasm for this game. It's so so bad. And those "Starborne" and magic powers... My God what an utter BS. I will just pretend I know nothing about it.

I say get your room at the Lodge for the free inventory space and then do all of that. I keep Sarah around because she's cute and I like her voice actress.

Unfortunately there are some useful things that are locked behind main story progression. Maybe mods will address that in the future. I wonder if blasting through main story and then going NG+ to do a "ignore constellation) playthrough is a good alternative

There is an exploration mission terminal in Constellation lodge. Gives you rewards for exploring and scanning stuff. Since you seem to enjoy that part of the game.

Side missions are boring as ♥♥♥♥, though

Scanning planets is the most boring, unrewarding, and tedious ass ♥♥♥♥

Also, the planets are boring as ♥♥♥♥. All these planets light years away from each other and yet every single one is barely different from each other - all looking like stuff you can find on Earth.

This game is a joke.

All very hard does it make bullet sponge enemies even more bullet spongey. And they do more damage to evaporate your health bar. And this game has ♥♥♥♥ hit feedback, so you'll be losing all your health without even realizing it a lot of the time until you look down to see it's all gone.

I personally don't like that Lodge room, I will just a buy a spaceship with large inventory capacity when I earn some money. And also you can store some things in Outpost too.

Like I said everything regarding Constellation is a big off for me. There are other companions that you can regruit besides Constellation members. And when mods come in there will be even more interesting companions to choose.

I am just at that part. Member of the constelation and had them show me my room.

Do I have to say I am ready to Sarah or just leave the Lodge and her there and can go my way!?

I also preffer free exploring/privateer over following aplot/main story.

That's the cool thing about this game, you can do just that. You make your own play style.

Okay well I need infinite inventory and I still think Sarah is cute. So, I don't know what you want me to say? I have bad taste in women.

Well, I also never leave New Atlantis. I'm like the guy in Outlanders or whatever that place is called because every time I get a mission to leave New Atlantis, I'm like, "God this game sucks"
