The worst part about modern gaming is the gamers.
Y'all just can't survive one day without polarizing something trolling each other.

No one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cares what you think about a video game. Not really.

Play it for yourself and if you like it, keep it. If you don't, refund it.

Stop letting other people tell you what to think

This includes hardware review youtubers, streamers, reddit, steam, whatever.

Use your own brains.

I'd say social media is the worst part about modern day gaming. In the past you had magazines where people shared their stories, which were reviewed before being posted. This included cheat codes and glitches. Now? One yahoo says one thing and it's law and spouted 900000 times by a different person, even if the words are completely false. Like the top review on reddit claiming there are only 10 different weapons in the whole game... Stupid stuff like that.

The problem is, journalists alienated gamers with their rage baiting. Devs alienated gamers with their ♥♥♥♥ practices. And now youtubers/streamers have filled that validation gap by telling gamers what they wanted. Except over the past 3, 4 years that they've grown big and started to make content creation their full time job, and with the pandemic boost giving them a better lifestyle, they don't want to give it up.

So now they ALSO rage-bait for drama-clicks, just like journalists, and gamers haven't caught on. So we're back in the late 2000's, early 2010's journalist cycle. In a few more years, content creators will alienate gamers just like the journalists did and nature will heal. Just have to wait.

That's still on the gamers for getting baited.

And I say all of this as someone who used to fall in to the trap all to easily. I'm not proud of a lot of the arguments I've gotten in to.

The console wars didn't really start until the first wave of PlayStation ads, with Crash mascots showing up at NES headquarters with megaphones doing guerrilla marketing.

The whole "PC Master Race" thing was a very obvious sarcasm from one of said journalists, but the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fanbase took it wrong, and that's what stuck. It's the gamers' fault.

Journalism died because fandoms largely reject intellectualism and education and actual criticism. Why bother putting in the effort for a writhing mass of sweaty palms to just ooze all over it?

Like the people who try to write quality posts here, the reception they get is amplified manifold times in the public sphere of journalism.

And here I am enjoying the game with my Titan X card at 30ish fps on medium settings. I had to use a 3rd party program to fix most of my stutters. I still get NPCs staring at me for 2 seconds before talking. It is weird but still enjoying it.
