When shopping for ships, your currency is underneath the vendor currency in the top right.
You probably want to make sure you're not reading what the vendor's credits are.
Low price ships you can steal from Pirates. Fly and land somewere on a random planet. If you have a small "flag" logo in you scanner its a ship. when you get to it check if the people around it are hostiles.
If Yes run into ship and pew pew the 3 crewmembers in the cockpit. Grab the seat and flye ship anyware.
Ship will likely contain contraband so dont fly to a spaceport. I usually fly to the mining facility where you start the game and store the contraband there in one of the outsode boxes. Quicksave before you take it "to town" just in case.
You now have a new ship.
sometimes shortly after you land on a planet / moon you can here a ship comming in. Take notice where it lands and go there. In most cases Friendly ships can not be captured on ground.
It a much more fun way to get ships. :-)
on PC, click to sell, then click back to buy. and you get the real price instead of individual systems.
this game is fun, but still really bugged out.
