Can I do companion quests without romancing them?
I'm a little unclear as to how they've implemented the quests in this game. Can I complete all companion quests without romancing them in a single playthrough? Can I romance every character at the same time?

The options for romance have a [Flirt] tag on them, just avoid those if keeping it friendly.

Ooooh-kay. So I can do multiple companion quest and shag only one person then? Not into the poly thing personally haha.

I just did a Personal type quest for Sarah last night. This happened after having her with me since the beginning of the game. I started Vanguard questline and she would occasionally would want to Talk with me so I kept on and Flirted every chance I got.

But when I got to the end of her quest she had me go on there was an option for Friendship and Romance. So I'm assuming you can Flirt and there will always be a definitive moment to choose a set path.

Just as i said, just dont pick the "flirt" tag options for when you do not want to flirt. ^^

You dont need to flirt to get companion quests at all

Problem is, [flirt] options are the only wahy to get the companion quests. You can later decide to be friends. But it's an awfully weird system. Sam Coe has only loved what I've done ever since I joined and still he won't give me the quest about finding his ex-wife. because I haven't flirted with him.

I don't flirt with npc so I haven't gotten any companion quests

Wrong. You can complete all companion quests and never take a flirt option on any of them. Each one always comes to a head where you get a option to Friend or Romance. Without ever taking Flirt. You just need to quest with and talk to each of them to get them to want you eventually.

The flirt option is basically a free liked/loved that and a affinity boost, the real commitment isin't until after their final quest. I always choose flirt as it just adds free affinity. Least with the women, with the guys I can't be bothered. Only companion quest I care about is Barrett's and thats because one of the games 24 powers is locked behind it. The rest I don't even bother to do, Sarah always dies in my games, as I rig it that way (as the 2 highest affinity companions are the choices you have, highest is on the eye, 2nd highest in the lodge). Beth's main story writing has always been poor, but Starfield is honestly a new low even for them.

This is absolutely wrong. I never flirted with anyone yet got both Sarahs as well as Barretts quest.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I just remember always reaching the flirt option and ignoring it. Then I beat all the side and main quest missions without ever getting a companion quest. Maybe I just did too many things that my companions disliked or didn't talk to them enough.
