Well then the tooltip is lying to me xD I guess it's engine class then? the game is confusing me atm.

You can use class C,B,A parts with class C reactor and class B or A parts with class B reactor. Class C parts generally are quite heavy that class A engines have difficulties to maintain mobility.

Made my new one. Finally got it dialed in and everything setup the way I like.

Pro stuff. I'm impressed. And I thought my designs were good. Most of these put me to shame.

My take on the Normandy that I found on Reddit and Youtube. I changed the reactor to Class C for the bigger weapons, mobility 100, speed 160, cargo 1600, 30ly jump drive with 400 fuel and has space for 9 crew. Habs: Captain's Quarters, Infirmary, Workshop and 2x Control Station.

That's one heck of a nice job. I think it looks fantastic.
(I also fixed the image link in the quote so other people will see it without having to follow your link).

I actually kind of like the different ship yards myself. For me, I ended up doing a lot of deliveries for Tayio or from Neon and loved the cockpit, so I slowly started phasing out old manufacturer parts whenever I'd be making a delivery to Neon. Gave it a kind of brand loyalty feeling that developed organically since we'd been working together anyway.

Also liked how Hopetech has pretty much a whole town.

I've really gone all in on being a cargo hauler, almost all my completed missions are deliveries and transports from mission boards and star ship yards. All started from my character being inspired by Fry.

The one above is my same OG Econohauler in one of it's earlier evolutions. It slowly grew to accommodate larger deliveries and more passengers until it became the Sky Lodge below.

Love your character and your ship designs. Really cool. And I agree. I like having different ship yards. It's similar to fast travel being too accessible. It tends to ruin the game. People want convenience until they get it.

I do believe there is a trick though. You can setup your own outpost with the large ship pad and it has every piece in it. So there is already an option built in. But for those of us who like to be more immersed the option is there.

This thread is so wholesome. And notice how all teh commenters actually own the game. Feels good.

Can you launch the game through steam and take screen shots? Pretty easy that way.

If they added a blueprint export/import feature it would make things easier and even create a workshop market.

Great to see someone else who gets the habs/interior layout established first and then builds the ship around that.

Yeah that is a great way to do it. I also try to keep one connection point. Tends to make things flow better.

Ok I have a question if anyone knows the answer. Yesterday I stole what can only be described as a cargo or freighter type ship. It's huge (to me) with 4,750 cargo stock. I was going to scrap it because of all the parts it has, but then I decided it would be fun to build a big cargo ship. Side note: I hope we get a mod that keeps ship's cargos discrete, and they always don't move to your Home Ship, and allows us to have a ship parked at our base that is not our home Home Ship. Anyway, I was repainting this cargo ship and then noticed it came with an Auto Turret. I don't have auto turrets unlocked yet. Will it function because it came with the ship or not because I need the skill unlocked?

Yeah I could see a lot of players enjoying finding a blue print they can use.

I don't have auto-turrets unlocked yet myself, I think it's a level based thing or something, but I saw a thread yesterday which was specifically about auto-turrets, and they said in that thread that you don't need the skill for them to function and that the skill just gives bonuses to them.
I can't speak to the veracity of that information though.

Thanks Jaggid Edje, I think I too read something like that awhile back (lol a week ago), but now that I had a ship that came with one. . : )
I also noticed that it's not actually an auto turret, but an auto cannon, which is also a skill I believe (the auto part).

I haven't spent much time making a cool looking ship but here is my modified Frontier...

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3034825218

When I get around to building a good ship the turret placement is going to have a higher prioritiy.. lol..
The turrets on this thing are not that effective :P
