NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 - ???
Having severe audio/game lagging. Audio will start in cutscenes or dialogue, then momentarily cut out before have the audio resume with no movement from the person speaking or what is supposed to be making the sound. Game will also stuttering frequently during gunfights.

Hardware
-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
-AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
-32GB Ram
-414GB Free on the SSD steam and the game are installed on

In Game Settings
-Low everything
-VSync = OFF
-Upscaling = Off
-VRS = OFF
-Motion Blur = OFF

Any thoughts or changes that can be made to help smooth my issues? TIA

None of these will fix his frame rate, the 20 series performs way below expectations on this game. Lack of optimization is to blame.

For context, 2070 Super, i7-9700k, 32gb DDR4 if anyone is interested. I average 20-40 fps and changing graphics does nothing but give me maybe 10 more fps. Interestingly GPU load is at 90-95% most of the time while cpu is at 70-90% on lowest settings.

On ultra settings gpu load stays the same but cpu load goes down to 40-70% usage...

Signs of bad optimization imo.

No, it wants you to have an 8gb vram card at minimum. I tried running the game with my rtx 2060. It starts, sometimes it’s acceptable (on the absolutely lowest settings), but often it’s painful FPS drops or the game crashing.

I would not consider it playable on the rtx 2060, so I looked for an upgrade.

Try the DLSS2 mod. I have a rtx 3060 mobile and it runs at 40ish fps at 3440x1440 on med settings (inside the city 30 fps). CPU Ryzen 7 5800H, 16 GB ram, SDD. No stuttering no audio issues.

Dont feel pressured into upgrading for this game, it's not a good game to benchmark it runs awfully on all rigs.

I am getting OK performance with my RTX2060 and the game at 1080p.

I was recommended the follow performance optimizations video for Starfield and the settings they suggested have helped. I am also using the DLSS bridge from a modder named PureDark (on Nexus - if they put their mods somewhere else, I couldn't say).

I have the same configuration (3800X 8-Core instead), and I don't have any serious problems, it usually moves at 30fps or higher (with the desktop resolution at 1080p)

As for the drivers, I had to install one from the beginning of the year, since the last one gave me a horrible black shadow/texture bug

I installed that aswell and it did nothing for me. Also installed the top performance mod from nexus. What is your average frame rate in the open world? Peoples definition of "ok performance" vary

had the same problems until i placed the game on a SSD now the game runs perfectly

Same issue here on a 2060. Unplayable framerate, sometimes freezing for up to 30 seconds at a shot, and occasional crashing. Even pausing the menu or switching weapons takes forever. I had to play it thru several times with different settings because like others I thought it was a hardware issue, but when I monitored my processors the ram and CPU never went over what I usually play for other games. The freezes and crashes never correlated with a spike in computing, so I had to assume it’s either a driver issue, a game issue, or both.

I ended up taking advice to roll the NVIDIA driver back from the Starfield specific one. It definitely helped make the frame rate more manageable, but the game itself still freezes sometimes and can occasionally be very glitchy, even for a Bethesda game. It’s as if the game itself has an issue with loading random bits of data, from sounds to items. There’s only so much adjusting, upgrading, and tweaking you can do for a game that isn’t optimized.

I’d just wait for now until the plummeting game rating forces them to make patches, because honestly there’s not much else to do. As far as franchise rollouts go, this one definitely could’ve started better.

I have a 3700x and RTX 2060 with no problems.

Use the performance preset from https://youtu.be/40iwgUjBmoA?si=0xkHE-Z94wLNLj-y
w/ Nvidia 537.13 +
DLSS mod https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/111 (free version)

Good performance.

Also clean out your save files, don't have more than a couple.

Plus, of course, make sure the game is on an SSD.

Make sure you kill other apps/browsers as well, it doesn't seem to like that.
Let SF have the system, if you need to use a browser use one with a single tab, not Chrome with 50 tabs open.

There is a plugin for script extender that does some magic with caching. Although, not directly related to audio, I know a couple of people I chat with via Discord that it has helped with their audio issues.

Again, requires Script Extender, may or may not help - worst case scenerio it doesn't work and you can simple delete the plugin

(Script Extender)

There is an ASI version, but I would recommend the SFSE plugin version.
