No 32:9 ultra wide support - what?
Just started the game for the first time, and there is no 32:9 ultra wide resolution. Is this a joke? I just watched a YouTube vid of some guy having to tinker with the exe and ini files with a hex editor to make this happen, and the game in his footage looked awful anyway - the FOV was all whack, and distorted at the sides.

Is this for real? 7 years in the making, when indie games that cost a 10th of the money support this? A triple A game, hyped to high heaven, that doesn't support ultra wide? I can play any Far Cry game in 32:9. GTA V. Elite Dangerous. XCOM. Even Kenshi. The list goes on.

What were you thinking, Bethesda?

Game detects your monitor if you have it recognized in Windows. I have 1440p 34" 32:9.

No clown badge for you.

works fine for me on 32:9 and 21:9.

Luckily the hex edit isn’t need, you can do it with just an INI file, but isn’t perfect.

I’m using a Samsung Odyssey G9, and all I get is 21:9 (3440x1440) without making a custom ini file.

My monitor is an Asus XG49V. Device Manager detects it as 'Generic Monitor (Asus XG49V)'. No other game quibbles about it - they just do 32:9, be it stretched, fitted, or whatever. Starfield won't even let me choose the correct res (3820x1080).

I downloaded the driver for mine, now it states the model number ingame, but still no 32:9
without the INI workaround

Same here - got the correct driver, it now shows in the game menu as the right name for it, but still no 32:9 resolution selectable.

Open your Starfield game folder, find the starfield config file, open in a text editor, under [Display] add the line "fWideAspectLimit=3.5556" if you use a 32:9 monitor, or "fWideAspectLimit=3.2" if you use a 32:10 monitor. (Without the "" of course)

Death just FYI borderless fullscreen sets you resolution to whatever windows is set for. So you have set windows to the resolution you want to play at. But that doesn’t fix the 32:9 thing.
Technically, it’s is displaying at 5120x1440 for me, but the game only renders at 3440x1440 with black bars on the sides. The selectable resolutions are just for windowed mode.

You can force the game to display at 32:9 but it doesn’t look right… the co2 watch thing looks weird.. with a ini file

Thanks Fenix, I know that borderless fullscreen is supposed to do what you describe, but that is my problem - it doesn't. On my machine, it just goes to 1920 x 1080, despite my Windows res being 3840 x 1080. Never mind, I'm done with worrying about it, but thanks for the input. I just played the game for a couple of hours (in 1920 x 1080), and it's giving me serious 'meh' vibes anyway.
